Burditt's 2-Hitter Paces BH 6-0 Win Over Dayton

Barbers Hill improved their district mark to 4-1 with a 6-0 victory over Dayton.  The Eagles will travel to Crosby on Friday in another key District 19-4A match-up.

Jay Burditt once again took to the home mound and pitched another gem.  Besides limiting the Broncos to only 2 hits, Burditt only once allow more than one runner to reach base.  That was the second inning when he gave up a walk and a single.  But even then no more than one runner was on base at a time.  The first Bronco that reach base was erased on a caught stealing.  For the night Burditt's numbers were 2 hits, 3 walks, 1 hit-by-pitch and 12 strikeouts.

Barbers Hill scratched out all the runs in the first without the benefit of a base hit.  Heath Padgett and Colby Henscey both were issued walks in the inning.  Padgett advanced all the way to third when he stole second and continued to third on a throwing error by the catcher.  With Padgett on third, Henscey was issued a free pass to first.  Colby then began an attempted steal of second when the pitcher threw a wild pitch scoring Padgett and Henscey raced on to third on the play.  Henscey then scored on a sac fly by Burditt.

The Eagles added more runs in the 2nd, 4th and 6th innings.  With one out in the second, Alex Rocha laced on of his 2 triples to the right field wall.  Rocha would then score on a RBI ground out by second baseman Cody Clifton.  Two more Eagle runners came home in the fourth inning when Rocha tripled in courtesy runner Cade McDonald.  McDonald was running for Jake Ponder who had walked.  Rocha came home moments later on an error by the Bronco shortstop.  The sixth Eagle run was a product of a double by Ponder and a single by pinch hitter Brian Meyer.

Congrats!!

Does anybody know who plays secondbase for BH? The kid has a cannon for a arm he threw out one of players from deep behind second base

That would be Cody Clifton otherwise known as "THE ROCKET". And he does have a cannon of an arm!

Why doesn't "Rocket" Cody Clifton get to throw from the bump?  It seems like anyone with an arm like that should be throwing BB's from the hill.

Everyone knows there's a big difference between throwers and pitchers  ;)... nothin against Cody, and trust me, it is a cannon ;)

I have talked to his dad about this. He was used a lot when he was younger. But they concentrated more on defense and hitting as he got older. You never know he may possible be used at the next level
