Bobcatfan4life Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 This was in an email sent out to LU students last week..... "We are excited about football returning to your university.!!! The student vote was a big step towards Lamar University bringing back football. Without your vote and support we would not have been able to move forward. I wanted to write you and update you on our progress. We have assembled our coaching staff and have signed our first class of players that will represent you in the fall of 2010. The next step will be the remodeling and construction at Provost Umphrey stadium. I think you will be pleased with our stadium and athletic complex upon the completion. We are anticipating that the renovations and athletic complex will be completed in time for our first season in the fall of 2010. This fall presents us with a unique opportunity. We will not play games, but will have 32 scholarship players along with 30-35 walk-on players practicing and preparing for the next football season. It will be a red shirt season, but we want to make it as much fun as possible and include you as much as we can. We will have 3 scrimmages that will be like spring games. We want you to come out and meet your team. More information will be coming shortly and please check our web site for additional information. I want to thank you for supporting Lamar University Football. I feel it is an honor and privilege to be your head coach. I will continue to keep you updated and look forward to seeing you soon at the scrimmages and games!!!!! Ray Woodard Head Football Coach Lamar University"
