weslinder Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 So today on ESPN.com, there's this This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up about the Louisville-UH National Semifinal game in 1983. It has this photo of Drexler from what I believe is the Civic Center. Who is the Lamar player?
Guest coachacola Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 I think that photo was taken at Hofheinz, not the Civic Center. I think I went to that game although I don't remember that dunk.
AshlyHasBeen Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 I think that photo was taken at Hofheinz, not the Civic Center. I think I went to that game although I don't remember that dunk. That is Hofheinz, wonder why the Coogs wore red at home?
hobbledhoopfan Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 It is Hoffheinz, I remember the game. That is Nicky Snell. I believe that was Foster's second year, Phi Slamma Jamma's first year, I think Olajuwon was a sophomore. The game was a blow out (30+), and the reason it is impossible to remember that dunk is it was one of many. At that point, no one realized how good UH was going to be. Our team was not that bad.
PURPLE 4EVER Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 WOW!!! Talk about flashbacks! I remember going to many games in the Civic Center and watching Snell. Wasn't at the game in the picture, but Lamar had some great teams back then. BTW.... Any one know what James Gully is up to now??? He sure did play Karl Malone to many draws when they faced off. I really didn't see Malone getting that good in the NBA, much less Joe Dumars. For Lamar fans of the early 80's, we really saw some quality basketball players come through the Civic Center and the first few years of the Montagne.
Guest coachacola Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Any one know what James Gully is up to now??? He must be living in Beaumont because his son attends Central and just won the "Mr. Inside" Gamble award. I just read the complete article and Jamar Gulley is being recruited by Lamar, Oral Roberts, and Marquette. http://www.panews.com/sports/local_story_087232933.html According to RCS Sports, he's been offered a scholarship and accepted it. Was Roc the one that offerered the scholarship? http://www.eteamz.com/HAAY/news/index.cfm?cat=213477
