QUESTION:

If a player transfers from a HS in another state to a HS in Texas in the middle of a season is he eligible to play this year. What about if the player was suspended and prohibited from athletics by the "UIL" governing body of the other state for a rules violation THEN he transfers to a school in Texas, would he be able to play this year? Someone in the know enlighten me on the eligibility rules in Texas under UIL and how this is allowed to be happening in the GT area?

A player is required to sit out the alloted time set forth by the UIL. The UIL approves or probably in the case I am sure you are speaking of the move. The district approves or probably also in the case I am again sure you are speaking approves the move.

There are checks and balances with this and if all systems point to go, and once again in this case which I am sure you are speaking of, the transfer is welcomed to his new school with open arms by those who actually know the whole story.

Would you be the one to tell a kid no and not give them a second chance, especially if he, his family and the new school took all the right steps to make it happen?

I hope not because I know for one without second chances, I would not be far in my life right now.
