HJ-HawkHecklers409 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 OK so here's the deal, the rockets and the sucky spurs are tied for the 3rd seed in the west at 50-28.. say both teams were to finish with the same record, how would they decide who is the 3 seed, and i know usually they'd go to the record for them against each other during the regular season, but even thats tied 2-2... how would they decide?
Guest JoesBros Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Hmmm thats a good question??? I was thinking they had one more matchup but I just looked at the Rockets schedule and they dont. I have no clue ??? ??? ??? Where's Gabe when we need him lol
Guest JoesBros Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Found this from cbssports.com The following is an explanation of NBA tiebreaking scenarios. Determining Ties for Playoff Position In order to break a tie for playoff positions, if one exists at the end of the regular season, the following criteria will be utilized in the order set forth: TWO-WAY TIES 1. Results of games against each other. 2. Better winning percentage within own division (only if tied teams are in same division). 3. Better winning percentage against teams in own conference. 4. Better winning percentage against playoff opponents in own conference (including teams that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position). 5. Better winning percentage against playoff opponents in opposite conference (including teams that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position). 6. Better point differential between offense and defense. I guess they would use rule #2
