KFDM COOP Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 BC's Brown, Shoemaker wins national powerlifting titles Special to The Leader The Orange Leader Bridge City junior Valerie Brown added to her list of honors recently with a first place finish at the National High School Powerlifting Championship in Baton Rouge, La. The Lady Cardinals as a team finished third. The team included Freshmans Gabrielle Brown placing 2nd in the 132 lb weight division, Rosemary Truong placing 2nd in the 123 lb weight division, Whitney Leblanc placing 2nd in the 105lb weight division, Nicole Threatt participating in the 97 lb weight division, Juniors Taylor Daville placing 3rd in the 123 lb weight division, Ricci Shoemaker placing 1st in the 114 lb weight division and Valerie Brown placing 1st in the 198 lb weight division. All of the team members reached personal bests for the year including Valerie Brown who exceded her goal with a 1002 lb total, to include a 419 lb squat, 165 lb bench, and 418 deadlift.
