KFDM COOP Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 21-3A teams go 3-0 in Monday night baseball Gabriel Pruett The Orange Leader The West Orange-Stark Mustangs, Orangefield Bobcats and Bridge City Cardinals all took care of business in Monday night action. The Mustangs made sure they would stay tied with the Bobcats for third place in the District 21-3A standings and after a 2-1 win over Hamshire-Fannett, WO-S is sitting even better. The Mustangs, Bobcats and Longhorns are now all tied for second with identical 4-3 marks in the district standings. Bridge City is atop the standings with a perfect 7-0 mark. WO-S (11-10) got seven strong innings from Zane Anders who gave up two hits with nine strike outs and two walks. The lone Longhorn run was unearned. Taylor Bonnin was 1-for-3 at the plate while Taylor Turley finished 1-for-2 with a sacrifice. Clayton Gearhart was 2-for-3 with a run, Justin Sparrow scored a run and Cody Hodge was 1-for-3. The Bobcats (17-8) got six innings out of Jacob Felts who allowed no runs and also hit a two-run homer to go with three RBI in their 8-0 win over the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks. Jace Statum finished the game with no runs and no hits in an inning of work. Statum was 3-for-4 at the dish with a three-run blast. Kyle Fontenot and Quinton Evans each had a RBI. The Cardinals picked up a 7-4 win over the Silsbee Tigers as Matt Hicks went the distance for the win. HIcks gave up eight hits with no earned runs and struck out 15 batters. Luke Rhodes had three RBI for the Cardinals while Joe Robertson finished with a tripleand two runs.
