KFDM COOP Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 LC-M’s thrower Reed nabs regional berths Van Wade The Orange Leader BEAUMONT — Little Cypress-Mauriceville’s Hayden Reed qualified for the Class 4A Region III Meet in both throwing events while Vidor senior Jared Williamson continued to shine in the high jump at the District 20-4A Track & Field Championships held at Beaumont West Brook High School Monday. Reed finished second behind Ozen’s burly Jarrade Lee in both the shot put and discus. Reed tossed the discus 142 feet, 2 1/2 inches and heaved the shot put 49-7. Lee, who has led Southeast Texas the hole season won the discus (160-0) and the shot (49-8). Williamson soared to 6-4 to capture the district title in the high jump. Livingston’s Dustin Harris also went 6-4 but Williamson had fewer misses. On the girls’ side, Ozen’s A’Lexus Brannon joined Lee as the other double winner as the Lady Panther standout won both the long jump (19-3 3/4) and the triple jump (36-9 1/2). For the LC-M girls, Maci Wilcox was sixth in the high jump and Danielle Cook was sixth in the pole vault. Destiny Arteaga qualified for the 100-meter hurdles and Ellen Williams qualified in the 200 meters for Thursday’s running finals, which start at 5 p.m. at West Brook’s Durley Stadium. 20-4A results BEAUMONT — Here are the results from the first day of the District 20-4A Track and Field Championships held at West Brook High School Monday: BOYS DIVISION Long jump: 1.
