KFDM COOP Posted April 17, 2009 Report Share Posted April 17, 2009 Pirates' Dooley racks up at 23-2A Meet Van Wade The Orange Leader WINNIE — Deweyville senior distance runner Joe Dooley dominated the District 23-2A Track & Field Championships in both the 800 and 1,600-meter runs Thursday at East Chambers High School. Dooley, who has made the Class 2A State Track Meet the last two seasons, won the 800 meters in 2:01.48 and stormed to the 1,600-meter crown in 5:01.38. Dooley also qualified for regionals by placing second in the discus (130-4 1/4). Dooley will have a couple teammates join him at the Class 2A Region III Track & Field Championships in a couple weeks in Palestine. Pirate Hunter Manning won the shot put with a heave of 42-4. On the girls’ side, Lady Pirate Chelsea Hathaway advances to regionals by placing second in the 300-meter hurdles (50.91) and third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.22).
