Lamar Allocation from State Down...?

According to SB 2146, which is moving along in the Texas Legislature without any problems, Lamar's allocation from the state will be cut nearly $3M. Any idea why the main campus of LU is getting a cut? All the other Lamar campuses are getting a boost, though slightly at that.

In comparison, TXST and SHSU are up nearly $2M, while SFA is up $1.3M.

Terror I do not believe it is a cut. In Dec 2008 the THECB required Lamar University to break out the allocation for Lamar Institute of Technology from the main Lamar University allocation. By breaking them out, you'll see a decrease in LU and an increase in LIT. Using the breakout formula it actually caused a net reduction between the two locations of about 500k based on the formula which includes many things (ie. facilities, condition of facilities, etc.,etc.)

The better the condition of facilities the lower the allocation. Note: LU has had many upgrades in the last few years and insurance from Rita and Ike damage has helped improve facilities too. If you want to read about all the allocations/reallocation you can find the info here:
