jdawg03 Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 The Top 10 1. West Brook-250 The Bruins survived a close one in the second half of the Beaumont Bowl Friday. Nevertheless, they played a tough Central team, and showed a lot team character coming back to win, after falling behind 14-0. We will all find out what West Brook is made out of when they face the always tough and talented Spring Westfield. 2. WO-S- 237 The Mustangs come in once again at #2 this week after defeating their cross town rivals LCM Friday Night. WO-S may have been taken by surprise a little, when LCM came out and played them close in the first half, but the Stangs had no problem with the Bears in the second half coming away with a 35-14 victory. Look for Bay City to give WO-S a fight this week. 3. (Tied) Central- 227 Even after losing a tough one Friday to West Brook, The Jags still come in at #3 this week. If there was every any doubt that Central is the real deal, we can all throw that out the window. The Jaguars gave their cross town rivals all they wanted and more. Central should get back into the win column this week after playing a not so good Houston Sterling team. 3. (Tied) Memorial- 227 What a huge win it was Friday for Ronnie Thompson and his Memorial Titans. PAM held off the surging Ozen Panthers and secured the first ever win in the Thompson Era. Memorial jumps up into a tie with Central for the 3rd place spot in our poll. 5. Nederland- 203 Remaining at #5 this week, Nederland handled a Forest Brook easily and got into the win column for the first time in 2006. The Bulldogs shouldn’t have a problem this week when they face Waller. Look for Big Ned to cruise into district play riding a two game winning streak. 6. (Tied) Ozen- 189 Ozen loses no ground in the rankings this week after a heart breaking loss to Memorial. The Panthers showed Southeast Texans something by coming back in that game after falling behind big. Athleticism makes Ozen a legitimate playoff contender. Seguin up next for the Panthers. 6. (Tied) Dayton – 189 The Broncos rebounded nicely after losing to WO-S in Week Zero. Dayton put together a solid game against a Nacogdoches team that many believe have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs in a tough 12-4a district. Friendswood should be another good test for Dayton this week. 8. Newton- 182 The Eagles apparently haven’t lost a step from last year. This is truly a program that never rebuilds, just reloads. An impressive victory over 3a Crockett, and solid play from the Newton Offense leads us to believe Newton will be there in the end this year as they always are. Big game for the Eagles this week as they take on their arch rivals, Jasper at The Boneyard. 9. PNG- 175 PNG bounced back nicely after losing to a great Brenham team on Friday. The Indians jump up one spot this week after a good win against Crosby. PNG has a huge game this week against Silsbee. We should know a lot more about the Indians after this one. 10. Silsbee- 167 Dropping down one spot this week is Silsbee, even after a win against Houston Sterling. The Tigers put up a great offensive showing, but an average at best defensive showing. Silsbee will have their chance this week to get their spot back as they come into the Reservation to take on #9 PNG. 11-25 11. Barbers Hill- 152 12. Bridge City- 135 13. Lumberton- 128 14. East Chambers- 108 15. Kirbyville- 101 16. Jasper- 74 16. Hamshire-Fannett- 74 18. Vidor- 72 18. LCM- 72 20. Kelly- 69 20. Hardin Jefferson- 69 22. Orangefield- 49 23. Huffman- 46 24. Deweyville- 33 25. Anahuac- 12 The Rest Liberty - 9, Woodville- 1 Rankings by Classification 5a 1. West Brook 2. Memorial 4a 1. Central 2. Nederland 3. Ozen 4. Dayton 5. PNG 6. Barbers Hill 7. Guest bigcat Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 Silbee had their 2nd string in, by the 3rd quater. Also i believe they the most points in our area.
Champion Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 This week will shake up the rankings alot. The winner of the PNG/Silsbee game should say alot (Silsbee will win this but its just my two cents).....
Tiger90 Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 The Tigers put up a great offensive showing, but an average at best defensive showing. This is a totally inaccurate statement. Sterling didn't put any real points on the Tiger starters. It was 54-12 when Silsbee substituted in the 2-3 strings early int he 4th quarter.
omegafour4 Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 West Brook Should be Ranked 1 because they are 5A and they are 2-0. If they are 1 then Central should be #2. They gave the Brook all they wanted. If it would not have been for the penalties and a few misscues they would have beet the Brook by at least 2 touchdowns!!!
hfaninthestands Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 14. East Chambers- 108 15. Kirbyville- 101 16. Jasper- 74 16. Hamshire-Fannett- 74 Tied with Jasper              Well I guess it will be another upset this week for the Horns
tiger Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 Come on now.....do a little research before you make statements like "average at best." Starters gave up 12 pts. Silsbee dominated this game and their is no reason for a DROP in ranking. Time will tell....it always does.
HDBobcats9 Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 I could have sworn that Hull-Daisetta was on the orginal top 25. Then we were exiled to being listed in the classification list (only school in 1A) and now we're off the list all together? All we did was shut out a 2A school that was coming off a 47-0 win the week before and we dominated from start to finish. Guess it takes more than that to stay on the list???? Maybe 22-0 doesnt' work, we'll be shooting for 80 against Cathedral this week.
jdawg03 Posted September 11, 2006 Author Report Posted September 11, 2006 This poll is done by a combination of about 10 different voters...if the voters dont vote for the 1a teams, then they dont show up on the rankings. If another team impresses the voters, there's always a chance that they will jump ahead of other teams, even if they havent lost. There will however be some sort of rankings put it in place for the 1a's and the remaining 2a's who were not included, before the start of district..stay tuned on that. If you disagree with the poll, that is fine. It is just a poll. There is nothing wrong with coming on here and letting us know why you think your team should or should not for that matter be on the poll. In fact it is encouraged. ..Thanks guys
Guest bigcat Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 I think the Silsbee coaching staf showed a lot of class. Not to run the score up on Sterling. And to let the Silsbee team play, as a team.Thats what makes a team click, all the boys feel like they contribute. The team will be better for this down the road. Keep up the good work guys.
gringo Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 "The Bulldogs shouldn’t have too much of a problem this week when they face Waller." "Look for Bay City to give WO-S a fight this week. " I dont get it. Waller smokes Bay City 54-20. Then you say Buldogs(#5) no problem with Waller, but Bay City should give WO-S(#2) a fight.
jdawg03 Posted September 12, 2006 Author Report Posted September 12, 2006 Bay City looks like they are down this year...With that said..They always play WO-S tough..We dont see any reason why it would be any different this year. We just believe Nederland is simply better than Waller. We'll all see here in a few days.
gringo Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 Ok, but I think Waller takes this one, your right we'll see.
BHFAN Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 This poll is getting comical No way a 3A should be ranked over a 5A unless the 5A is a Houston school. Here is the new top ten IMHO 1.) West Brook 2.) Port Aurther Memorial 3.) Nederland 4.) Central (Even after their shocking loss) 5.) WOS 6.) Dayton 7.) Ozen 8.) Barbers Hill (Yep that right!) 9.) PNG 10.) Lumberton
