Guest nostradamus Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Guys, Robert Hughes has the most wins EVER in this ENTIRE COUNTRY!!! That says it all right there.......and I hate to break to you but, longevity HAS TO BE part of the equation when considering all of this. Robert Hughes Cotton Robinson Bill Kruger Carlisle from Clear Lake Joe Lombard Carlisle that was at Clarksville Fred Williams James Gamble Buddy Hawkins
AggiesAreWe Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 They DID play a varsity schedule that first year, but I dont think they were allowed to go to the playoffs that first year...I don't even think they played varsity teams during district...Check on that again. Yes they were allowed to go to the playoffs and they did play varsity teams in district. That undefeated team of Silsbee's that year rolled Ozen pretty bad. I think Boutte never forgot that later on.
Guest DickVitale Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Carlisle was from Claer CREEK. Hughes coached for 50 years...He won a lot of games..Nos, are you agreeing with me? First time for everything, huh? Oh OK, I thought they were not allowed to play a full schedule until the NEXT season, which was 98-99 when they DID win the district. They got beat by Longview Pine Tree in the area round of the playoffs that year.
Guest nostradamus Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 I don't think I am agreeing with you......I am saying that Hughes is #1 and there really isn't an argument. I am saying longevity has to be taken into consideration in a positive manner. There is a reason only a few guys can coach as long as he did.
Guest DickVitale Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 I DID say that those guys were the greatest...I said that Boutte is not in that classification yet...I also said that at the 22nd year for all of them, Boutte had done more, and he has!!! Thats not debatable, thats fact.
Guest nostradamus Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 So maybe, just maybe, we are agreeing........I'll do my best to twist it into an argument.

Robert Hughes Cotton Robinson Bill Kruger Carlisle from Clear Lake Joe Lombard Carlisle that was at Clarksville Fred Williams James Gamble Buddy Hawkins Good names Nos... You used a few of mine, added a few and took a few away!!! The post wasn't about naming all the best. I gave a few examples and welcomed others, but I still wanted to know how this area thinks Boutte compares to the best. DV I will admit Boutte has done great things... I wonder how Ozen would have done in the 90's when 4A was VERY strong in Houston... He did get a little luck by Htown having some down yers! (Hey you called Skip's shot lucky)
Guest DickVitale Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Boutte was at Lincoln in the 90's....Until 1997, thats when he left for Ozen. Won TWO 4A state championships, won the region (which includes Houston) 5 times.... : :..What else did you want him to do?
