KFDM COOP Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Swine flu prompts UIL to postpone all athletic & academic competitions Comments 0 | Recommend 0 April 29, 2009 - 11:13 AM Scott Lawrence AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Texas officials are postponing all high school athletic competition until May 11 because of the swine flu outbreak. The move suspends the baseball season and eliminates the regional track championships, said University Interscholastic League Executive Director Charles Breithaupt. He said UIL officials acted on the recommendation of public health officials. The state golf and tennis championships are scheduled to begin May 11. The state track meet, one of the largest high school track and field competitions in the country, remains scheduled for May 13-14. But it will require shuffling the schedule significantly. All UIL academic competitions are postponed as well.
KFDM COOP Posted April 29, 2009 Author Report Posted April 29, 2009 NOTHING UNTIL MAY 11 OR AFTER!!!!

AggiesAreWe Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 What happens now with the remaining district games? ??? ??? They will be played after May 11.
TheBoysMom Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 This is awful news for the seniors... so many of them already have post-graduation trips planned. Â At PN-G, they've already had to cancel and lose deposits on a trip to Mexico due to the violence. Now this?
EAGLE07 Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Is this Dayton's latest ploy to have their pitchers fresh and ready to go ?Â
MrUmp1 Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Are we all going to stay home and not work and also keep the kids from even going to school???? Where does this end????
besbolbenbedygud Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 San Antonio ISD....I believe has already closed it's doors for the week..........
adminbaberuth Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 I can see a repeat of the those guys coming back in their 30's replaying a tie game they had in high school.Â
topgun95 Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 What about travel ball? I'm guessing they will not hold any tournaments.
ksagrl1 Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Cleburne ISD up here in North Texas is closed for the week due to four probable cases.
Terrier Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 I don't think the government is being completely forthright about this flu strain. I seen some articles that say it might be engineered by a lab.
JS Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Is this Dayton's latest ploy to have their pitchers fresh and ready to go ? Yes. We would like to play the final three games on a Friday and the entire play-off schedule on the next day---that way we would only need two pitchers

Lazeek Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 My friend had a trip planned to Mexico in June and it was bought as NON-REFUNDABLE!!!! They received a FULL REFUND for flights and hotel accomodations today. I would bet the PNG trip would be refunded as well.
KDOSullivan Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 The district I am associated with has( had) a number of kids going to the UIL State Academic meet next week....We do not know when they will be now...This has been a strange year for seniors. First Ike, now this.... :-\
Gabe Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 They can practice and most will probably start to inter-squad quite a bit.
adminbaberuth Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 i'm guessing we can start the date the uil has set if no more cases of the flu are diagnosed. but what i heard on the radio with gov perry and san antonio closing it's school, i'm one to think this season is history.
