KFDM COOP Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 From PNGBANDKID May 5 @ 6:30 p.m. @ Indian Stadium - Spring Pep Rally & Powderpuff Game - As always, a great way to get PN-G fired up for summer.
NDNWarrior Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Gonna be a GREAT! Planning on packing out the stands, get everyone EVEN more fired up than they already are! Plus, will be a good way to welcome the new coaches and let them see the Honor.......Pride...........Tradition of the PNG faithful. The powder puff game is being played afterwards. And, I beleive, they are asking folks to donate a dollar towards project graduation.
PN-G bamatex Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 This is the first pep rally in our new stadium. Let's make it a good one and show those new coaches just what real spirit is all about.

KFDM COOP Posted May 5, 2009 Author Report Posted May 5, 2009 Post PICS from Pep Rally here!! How was the crowd?
shovel Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 I stopped by the pep rally after work today. There were a LOT more people there than I expected. Afterward there was a powder puff football game. It looked a lot like Nederland vs Lumberton, but better! ;D..... Just picking y'all. Maybe somebody will post some pics. I'll be glad when the baseball and softball games resume.
NDNWarrior Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 There were a LOT of fans there tonite and you could definitely feel the excitement in the air! Faircloth has done a GREAT job and will continue to do so. As soon as my daughter gets home with her camera, I'll try and post pics! BTW, the stadium, the field, looks GREAT! Dang, I wish it were week 0!
Guest KHS 89 Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 My parents were there as were my nephews and niece. Sounded like a good turn out. One funny thing my parents mentioned....... new year, new coach, new students..... same old slow tempo Cherokee..... Not sure why the band continues to play the fight song slow??
NDNWarrior Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Got this photo from the PNG website. Nice crowd on hand for a Tuesday night!
PN-G bamatex Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 My parents were there as were my nephews and niece. Sounded like a good turn out. One funny thing my parents mentioned....... new year, new coach, new students..... same old slow tempo Cherokee..... Not sure why the band continues to play the fight song slow?? This is what I posted on the PN-G forum: The best anyone can do is continue to contact the administration and band directors. It was slower this evening, but I honestly think that it had more to do with the drum majors then it did the directors tonight. They counted us off slowly for some reason. Hopefully, it will be taken care of by next year. Our new drum majors are very enthusiastic and I happen to know that one of them has a mother who has been pressing for a faster tempo as well, so I think the situation will be remedied next year. As for why it was slow tonight, I really don't know, but the drum majors counted us off slowly for some reason. Hopefully, it was a one-time thing. We played it at a great tempo (Somewhere between 120 and 130.) at Indian Spirit Tryouts, and next year we are supposed to have a bigger drumline and a bigger brass section, which should make it MUCH louder. To tell you the truth, we're lucky we had Cherokee at all this evening. The administration originally told us that we were only to play it twice (once at the beginning and once at the end) to "save time" so that there would be enough time to play the powderpuff game. The band directors and, yes, the cheerleader sponsor went to the administration and asked them for a compromise: Play "long" Cherokee at the beginning and the end and "short" Cherokee once for each sport. The administration agreed. I'd be thanking Mr. Wells, Ms. Beckcom, and Mrs. Wolfe because, without them, we would have hardly had it at all.
pngfan66 Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Great time last night on the rez !!!! Bigger crowd than I expected considering all the little league and softball games going on. Crowd was very pumped last night. Cherokee needs to be played at a faster beat ! My daughter is a senior and gradutating this year and she on several occasions at my pressure spoke with the directors about it and nothing changed. Maybe next year. Also I mentioned to Beckem and Wells that they need to put up a few mics in front of the band so that the band can be heard over the speakers. If you sit on the score board side of the stadium you can't hear the band. Coach Faircloth needs to take alook at some of those girls from the powder puff game !!! Man some of those girls have jets and some can get some air and grab passes way above their heads and then throw in some juke moves !!! LOL ! Had a great time last night with the family. Can't wait till 0 Week !!! 5 games at home to start off the season !!! HURRY HURRY HURRY !!!!!!
tvc184 Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 ..... same old slow tempo Cherokee..... Not sure why the band continues to play the fight song slow?? It's as fast as the can read.
NDNWarrior Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 1st 5 games at The Reservation! WOW! ;D ;D ;D
PN-G bamatex Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 ..... same old slow tempo Cherokee..... Not sure why the band continues to play the fight song slow?? It's as fast as the can read. Read? We don't read the music to Cherokee every time we play it. We are required to memorize it and play it off to the band directors from memory at the beginning of every year. There's no reading involved.

No read Indian song all time. Learn it well for purple people. ;D
