What is the best thing Bush did during his presidency?

Recommended Posts

Maybe because my gr-grandfather Avery Bias was born a slave and millions more like him.

And the next generation will be the gr-gr-grandfather...then the next will be the gr-gr-gr-grandfather, then the next......

No matter how many generations you look at (and it has been about 7 generations or almost 150 years ago), when do you move on? 200 years? 300?

Really! The same people who were attacked by dogs and beaten are still around to remind us of their story. Just like the Constitution is studied and mentioned today, our history will be today.

Strategy of a typical left winger....

Use the past (no matter how far back)

to justify their socialistic agenda, and maybe even get free stuff from the government.

Okay, stop using that old dried out constitution as reference to your rights to bear arms.

Got em again, bluedove..... ;) They use the constitution when it is convenient for THEM! No one here will tell the truth about slavery, and its definitely NOT CORRECT in the history books...INDENTURED SERVANTS and SLAVES are two totally different entities....TOTALLY DIFFERENT.

Back to the topic? Bush leaving office was his best presidential move.

I loved all the jokes going around about helping him move faster. Companies offering their services for free if he would leave in December 2008. :D

You know that u use the constitution when its convenient for you.  According to you its worthless because it was written by a bunch of thieves and liars.

Who on here is not telling the truth about slavery?  100% of us believe that it was totally and morally wrong for all countries that were involved.  But nobody here was a slave, it ended over 150 years ago.

History books have a way of coldly delivering facts and figures on all things historical. Did your history teachers teach it without any passion, feelings, etc.? Is that the deal?

I enjoyed teaching it.  There were many excellent movies that went along with it.  One of the best was "Nightjohn" that dealt with the aspect of slaves teaching each other to read.

People weren't beaten or bombed just 150 years ago. Jim Crowism is/was just as bad as slavery. Step out of slavery into Jim Crow era. Jim Crow is still around just hidden better these days.

Explain how Jim Crow is still around.

Anybody can go through life saying "poor me".  Try counting your blessings for once in a while.  We live in a great country and a great state.  Sure there are faults but is there any other country that you'd prefer?  How many great democracies are over on the continent of Africa?  Lots of cruel dictatorships, slavery still alive in Sudan and others, lawlessness in Somalia.

BLUEDOVE hits it on the head again!! Dayton, I was taught by some excellent teachers at a great elem, middle and high school...My dad is and was a history buff, so I got EXTRA education in that subject through the years. Maybe it was my teachers wanting to protect us...I grew up in demographically balanced schools, so maybe they thought it was too sensitive to elaborate on, but I learned more about what really went on from my father, who was well qualified to teach me about history..I remember watching certain movies and him saying that it was not portrayed correctly...My father is a fair man, and never taught hate, but he always wanted us to know about our history.

Everyone has their own opinion of Slavery and text books. Here is an article about White Slavery that is not taught in History books.

The Truth About Slavery

The history of America and of Western Civilization is not being taught as it should be in our schools and universities today. Historical facts are suppressed, and what is taught is distorted in such a way as to advance the world government agenda, with all inconvenient historical facts, knowledge of which might cause our young people to question that agenda, purposely left out.

It is a tragedy of monumental proportions that our schools have been converted into "liberal" brainwashing institutions, though I do feel a sense of encouragement when I read that more and more real Americans are taking their children out of the public schools and teaching them at home.  Nevertheless, because America is, or was until recently, a predominantly White nation, one of the primary ways that national disintegration is promoted by the destroyers of nations in this country is by the inculcation of White guilt for Black slavery.

By recounting and emphasizing again and again the real and imagined sufferings of Black people under slavery, the White student is made to feel that his ancestors were cruel, morally retarded, and evil. They are made to feel that they owe Black people a nearly infinite compensation, since, they are taught, Black people's problems today are the legacy of hundreds of years of slavery for which White people are responsible. They are taught that the relative prosperity which we enjoy today was achieved largely by exploitation of Black slaves. Is it any wonder that thousands of our young people join Jesse Jackson in chanting "Hey Hey Ho Ho, Western Culture's Gotta Go"? Is it any wonder that they all too often reject our European cultural heritage and embrace all forms of alien styles of music, dancing, dress, grooming and slang, from Jamaican "rasta" to "gangsta rap"? Is it any wonder that White teenagers are committing suicide in higher numbers every year? They have received, in our public schools and colleges, not a "liberal education," but an education by liberals. They have been taught very well indeed - taught that they and their ancestors and their traditions and their natural feelings are worthless and an obstacle to be overcome.

Now these liberal lies are easily countered by facts. The primary fact that must be emphasized is that many hundreds of thousands of White people were slaves in early America. In fact, White slavery was not only extremely common, but until the late 18th century it was far more common than Black slavery here. Also little known is the fact that living and labor conditions for Black slaves, bad as they often were, were usually far better than those for White slaves.

At this point, many of you are probably saying "White slaves? What in the world is he talking about? Sure, there were White indentured servants and apprentices in colonial America, and maybe sometimes they were treated badly, but actual White slavery - that's something that disappeared with the Romans and the Vikings. And to compare White indentured servants to Black slaves is the worst sort of racist distortion of history!"

Some of you are probably saying or thinking exactly that, and quite frankly to most of us the idea of White slavery in early America is hard to accept, schooled as we are by the controlled media and the liberal-dominated public schools.

Today, not a tear is shed for the sufferings of millions of our enslaved forefathers. 200 years of White slavery in America have been almost completely obliterated from the collective memory of the American people.

Writer Elaine Kendall asks "Who wants to be reminded that half - perhaps as many as two-thirds - of the original American colonists came here, not of their own free will, but kidnapped, shanghaied, impressed, duped, beguiled, and yes, in chains - ? ...we tend to gloss over it... we'd prefer to forget the whole sorry chapter."

It is still undermined.  I don't think that it's as much about an apology as a true, heartfelt, compassionate suggestion that IT WAS WRONG.  I just keep getting...it was bad, but it was part of history; Africans sold slaves; our forefathers did the best they could; at least it's over now.  Yet, somebody gets their boxers/briefs in a wad because someone states that they don't care about car bombs and children being killed overseas.  It's just the lack of empathy for what happened...the nonchalantness.  All I can say is you're definitely in the right place.

Give me a break......it was over a 100 years ago. There WERE white slaves.......I'm not blaming anyone or asking anyone for an apology. I was upset about the car bomb because it was in the last few days..... Find something else to be mad about.........

You make Little sense. We all say its bad and we disagree.......yet we don't have a true, heartfelt, compassionate apology for you......and that's OUR fault??     ::)   ::)

Well lets see the bombing of the marine barracks, the ship that was bombed, the first attack on the world trade center, uh and if that wasn't enough, the last attack and destruction of the world trade center that killed many americans........If i'm not mistaken thats when we went to war, but I'm sure it was like you said greed, But Im sure your opinion was to keep ignoring other people killing our citizens....man, you kill me with your logic sometimes....
