Congrats to LCM on the win. There were only 2 errors for Crosby but they were big. LCM scored their first 3 runs as a result of those 2 errors. You have to give LCM the credit though, they did take advantage of those errors and got some big hits. That's what the good teams do!
MMSLB
LCM hit the ball well, the errors hurt Crosby some, but when you get three hits and score one run in any game you will more than likely lose. I thought both teams played a good High School baseball game , it was fun to watch!
tvc184
Two of my favorite sayings after a game from the losing side.... 1. "You have to give the other team credit though..." 2. "I'm not taking anything away from them" Translated to mean, "Gee, I thought we were supposed to win but my more talented team lost". LCM showed that the definition of "team" is last night. They didn't boot the balls at a bad time and they put the ball into play when needed. Way to go, LCM. Let the 'team' keep playing "team ball"...... but I'm not talking anything away from Crosby. TEL
LCM played better plain and simple. Crosby had 3 hits and 3 errors. LCM had 7 and 2. LCM took advantage of every error, just like a good team should do. Nobody is taking anything away from them, they were the better team tonight. Game 2 tonight at 6:00, should be a good one. KFDM COOP
Cougars nip LC-M to force third game Gabriel Pruett The Orange Leader CROSBY — Call it the game of baseball and call it crazy. The Crosby Cougars had two big innings Friday at Crosby High School and it was enough to pull out a 12-11 victory over the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears. The Cougars and Bears will now meet at 2 p.m. today at Don Gibbens Fields in a deciding Game 3 of the Class 4A Region III bi-district playoff round. LC-M won Game 1, 5-1, at Lamar University in Beaumont. Crosby (20-10) scored six runs in the second inning and five runs in the fifth to pull out the win. The biggest hit coming off the bat of Cori Langley in the bottom of the fifth with LC-M up 11-8. Langley, with the bases loaded, rocked a three-run triple to tie the score and then came home when a relay throw went past LC-M (22-12) catcher Stefan Leger to give Crosby a 12-11 advantage. It was not as if Crosby was knocking around LC-M pitching in the fifth up until Langley’s triple. Coltin Rustin led the inning off by being hit by a pitch and pinch runner Cody Ressler came in to score when James Rachel hit a sacrifice fly. The Cougars loaded the bases with two outs on an infield single, another hit batter and a walk. LC-M would hit five batters in the contest. LC-M took the 11-8 lead in the top of the fifth by scoring three runs. Ryan Waddell, running for Dallas Brown who had walked, scored on a RBI double by Stefan Leger. Leger scored on a RBI single off the bat of Stefan Cloeren and Cloeren later scored on a RBI single by Taylor Thompson. Each team scored a run in the first inning, LC-M’s coming when Matt Johnson scored Tim Barry with a sacrifice fly. Caleb Mangum scored after walking with two outs and Frank Rangel was then able to rip a RBI double to center field to make it 1-1. Barry hit a three-run homer in the top of the second to give LC-M a 4-1 lead. Brandon Landry singled to right with two outs and Dallas Brown to set up Barry’s homer. Crosby then responded with a six-run, bottom of the second to take a 7-4 lead. The Cougars loaded the bases with one out with two hit batters and an infield single. Rachel then drove in two runs with a two-run single to left center. Mangum and Rangel each then had RBI hits to drive in the rest of the runs. Wade Estes crept LC-M back into the game with a two-run single to score Cloeren and Johnson. Cloeren had reached on an infield single and Johnson was hit by a pitch. Cloeren, who is 6-for-8 in the series, drilled a monster two-run bomb in the top of the fourth to dead center field which also plated Leger to give LC-M a 8-7 lead. Cloeren had three RBI in the game. Starting LC-M pitcher Brown, seeing his first action on the mound in about a month, only worked 1 1/3 innings giving up five runs on three hits with two strike outs and one walk. Taylor Thompson worked 4 2/3 innings and gave up seven runs on five hits with two strike outs. Junior Mason Dallas pitched the sixth inning for LC-M and sat down all three batters he faced. Langley, the starter for Crosby, went 4 1/3 and gave up five hits with four strike outs and six walks on 105 pitches.

He hasn't gotten many opportunities to play this year other than to run for Leger. Tonight he got an opportunity and did exactly what he should have done and that was to make the most of it. He came in and did his job. I'm looking forward to seeing the game tomorrow at 2. If you like a high scoring game then anyone would have loved tonight's game. Cloeren hit the ball as hard as I've seen a ball hit, Leger too for that matter. LCM has to find a way to cool off #9 the catcher or at least not let him beat them.
