Still looking for who BC defeated in the 2001 playoffs?  ???

Hey Circle, go to the UIL website and in the baseball section look under archives.  It has each seasons playoff history.

Yeah I tried that. That is the missing year. Maybe someone can get a hold of Sam Moore I'm sure he would know since he was the coach back then. Thanks Bulldog.

Powell never played college ball but did throw some semi-pro in Port Arthur.  That Liberty game was pitched the first six innings left-handed and struck out the side right-handed in the seventh.  Liberty was very weak that year and as I remember, they were not happy about Steve changing hands.  Thought we were rubbing it in.  He also had one hell of a pick-off move to second base!  Also, one of the games of that double-header, Lance Lee hit a fly ball to center field that bounced off the centerfielder's noggin' all the way to the right field corner!  Still laughing about that one!  Orange Leader's John Curlyo dropped his scorebook he was laughing so hard!  They had about 5 fans in the stands and one of them yelled at Young the entire time calling him "bus-driver."  Ah, what memories!

The 1966 BC Baseball team featured Steve Worster, Joe Langston, Mike Wallace, Gerald Reed, Donnie Hebert, Charles Miller, and Johnny Miller.  They were the District 9-AAA Champions and lost in the Bi-District round to perennial powerhouse (then and now) Brenham.  Brenham went to the State Tournament that year and featured two future major leaguers.

BC Teammates Charles Miller and Johnny Miller both played college ball for Panola, where both won a national championship in 1969 with the Ponies.  After leaving Panola, Charles completed his college career at Trinity University and Johnny completed his college career at Stephen F. Austin.  Both had successful high school coaching careers - Charles at Bridge City and Johnny at Dayton.

I've only made about 20 different ones. They're hard to keep up with.  ;D I'll look into it. Thanks.

    • I too, wish #15 was healthy and playing.  And also another RB (can't recall the #), who went down in the first game of the season. But, some others have stepped up and are hard runners.  I'm really looking forward to watching this game.
    • Still, from what little I saw, it should have been a much closer game.  WOS was missing some fundamentals on defense, and a lack of imaginative play calling on offense.  Just my opinion as an objective observer on Texan Live, which was horrible btw, but that's another story.
    • Either way,one game lead in the series. I rely to much on word of mouth
    • West Orange Stark has been a powerhouse since I csn remember. At some point, your bound to fall off to some degree. Alabama has 3 or 4 loses this season. Who would have thought? Has Orange lost kids to LCM or even Orangefield?
    • Interesting matchup this Friday. Both teams have very good offensive and defensive lines, which will make this game interesting. Having watched Texas High all season, they have a wide open offense with very good skill players. If you look at their stats they run the ball 57% of the time and pass 43% of the time. Personally, that is a bit deceiving, as most of their games have seen reserves running the ball in the 4th quarter. I would estimate the primary offense is 50/50. Through 12 games they have run for 3,224 yds (48tds) and passed for 2,894 yds (32 yds). Potter, the Tiger QB, has been very efficient with a 69% completion rate and 1 interception (which came from a tipped pass). The passing is distributed primarily to 4 receivers…. Ball (865), Wrightner (811), Montgomery (532), & Pilgreen (392). The rushing comes from 3 running backs … Johnson (1,432), Ball (768) & Moore (716).  The Tiger defense is solid and very quick.    Hope #15 is healthy enough to play. He is a test for any defense. I was concerned about the Nederland RB, but felt Texas High did a good job containing him. I wish this game was in the afternoon, as Nachitoches is having their Festival of Lights and their will not be any rooms in the inns and restaurants will be full so plan accordingly. PNG are state champions until someone knocks them off, so I extend the Indians the respect they deserve. Pulling for the Tigers.
