BLUEDOVE3 Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 John Lucas' Invitational Camp Right Way for 8th and 9th graders from all across the country. Before all the NCAA rule changes, the camp consisted of major D-1 coaches doing the teaching. Now he has D-2, D-3 etc to get around the ruling.
hj1 Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 Texas Prep Basketball School in Commerce. Run by Kenny Hoffpauir from Georgetown and Barry Boren at Liberty Hill. The school is described as hell week by every player thats been. Players get woken up at 6 am and are immediately put into rigourous and demanding drills. Players go through drills from position drills all the way down to passing drills. Each individual clinic last from an hour to an hour and a half. Players are also split up into leagues and into teams within the leagues and are taught offensive and defensive schemes and plays that are put to the test with 4 8 minute quarters, full court scrimmages. Later in the week college coaches and players put older players through college drills and work outs. Coaches include many coaches from all over the state, coaches from University of Iowa, the father of Stan and Jeff Van Gundy, and in the past coaches from the Dallas Mavericks. The camp is 1 week of days lasting from 6 am until 11 or 12 pm. NO PLAYER HAS EVER LEFT NOT FEELING BETTER ABOUT THEIR INDIVIDUAL SKILLS.

My son has attended 2 years and has improved each year. The only thing is ,that this camp will let you know if you like to play basketball or you are a basketball player. If your not that serious you will find out there. We are going back this year to work on inside game.
