AJ25 Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 yeah baseball's locker rooms are out of date.. and having a full turf field will definitely make their field one of the elite in Texas..
Guest coachacola Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 From Lamar's website: Plans include improved locker rooms, shading and seating, as well as parking, better practice facilities and an enhanced VIP seating area and restroom facilities for fans. http://www.lamar.edu/Campaign/115.htm
AJ25 Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 I'm all for the shading!! But I'm surprised to read nothing about the turf? I figured it would only cost around $500,000 or so to finish the outfield off..
Ruckdad Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 I for one don't like the turf. You're supposed to get dirty in baseball. Turf the infield and outfield grass - fine, but leave the infield dirt.
AJ25 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 little too late for that ruckdad. lol and the turf is much better on the body.. plus, no more scrapes and bruises and dirt in places it doesn't belong lol
Gtj007 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 One of the best things about the infiled turf is that the players no longer have to worry about maintaining the field. I know for a fact that in recent years players have been lost due to injury while working on the field.
Ruckdad Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 I thought that was why Gilligan had baseball PE!
AJ25 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 that is the "walk-on" class though. mainly used for BP pitchers, and guys to scrimmage against the real team I'm sure..
Gtj007 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 I went back and read my post and did not mean to say "recent" years. More like 10 yrs. ago.
