Guest coachacola Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 The facility will include lights for night games and be compliant to play host to the Southland Conference Tournament if the school choses to bid on it in the future. There will also be a locker room and coaches' offices on site, but those are scheduled to be completed some time in November. Hardman said he expects the field to be ready for play by Aug. 23, but said that does not include weather or construction delays. The team will play on the football practice field in the meantime. Over the previous two seasons, LU played its matches at Cardinal Stadium, which is now Provost Umphrey Stadium and is under renovation. "There is a Plan B," said Hardman. "We understand the area we live in." While the Cardinals record last season was not great, the team has built a steady following. LU was fourth in attendance out of 10 Southland women's soccer schools with an average of 310 fans per game. Stephen F. Austin was third with 426 and Texas State was first at 738. "It's exciting, but we all understand that with all the renovations and projects on campus there are going to be some growing pains," said Hardman. "But we'll work around that." http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/local/lamar_soccer_complex_soon_to_be_under_construction_06-11-2009.html
