Cowboy1981 Posted June 23, 2009 Report Share Posted June 23, 2009 Hardin Student Suffers Burns in Accident BATSON, June 22, 2009 - According to friends in Hardin, a Hardin High School Senior, Deke Comeaux was in route to Faith and Family Funeral Home on SH 105 in Batson, TX this evening to attend the visitation for Christopher Pate who died in an accident on Saturday morning when he himself involved in a major accident. According to DPS Trooper Eric Vogel a Chevy Pickup was on the westbound shoulder parked and attempted a U-Turn from the shoulder in front of an oncoming Jeep. The Jeep struck the pickup in the roadway. The driver of the Jeep was Marty Clark age 38 and Comeaux was the driver of the pickup. According to Trooper Vogel the at fault driver in the accident was Comeaux. Citations in the accident are pending further investigation. The Batson Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the pickup that Comeaux was driving that caught fire after the collision. A landing zone was prepared on the grounds of the Funeral Home where Southeast Texas Air Rescue landed and transported Comeaux to Houston’s Hermann Hospital suffering from burns he sustained in the accident. According to Trooper Vogel, Comeaux’s burns are not as serious as once thought and he was not transported to a burn center by Air Rescue.
