Guest coachacola Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Didn't Lamar say last week they would start on the stadium renovations and the new field house any day now? Have they started any work on these or are they still just putting in the new turf? I can't see how they'll finish the new athletic complex in time for football next fall.
AJ25 Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 I went by a couple of days ago and didn't notice anything different about the stadium, other than the monster truck rally that was about to happen.
LUFAN Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 They have a year and a couple months, I think we will be just fine... They are working on getting all these projects going and getting them done...
AJ25 Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 all they are worried about is the turf.. that's all they need right now because they need a place to practice come august.
LUFAN Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 man I am getting stoked for football...I cannot wait... I really want to get into a better conference asap... a good all around conference...

Guest coachacola Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 From KFDM: Construction will begin Monday, June 29, on Provost Umphrey Stadium and the new athletic complex on the Lamar University campus. The project will begin with the removal of the existing bleacher seating in the stadium, which is expected to start between 8 and 10 a.m. Construction of the brand new state-of-the-art athletic complex, which incorporate many of the features of the existing Higgins Field House, will start between 8 and 10 a.m. Monday, July 6. Renovation and expansion of the stadium and athletic complex is scheduled for completion in 2010, before the beginning of the official football season. A new field lighting system is included in the renovation of the football complex. SeTEX Construction Corp. is contractor for the stadium/athletic complex project. Work began June 9 to prepare for installation of state-of-the-art field turf at W.S. "Bud" Leonard Field in Provost Umphrey Stadium. Does renovation and expansion of the stadium mean they are adding a lot more seating? http://www.kfdm.com/sports/complex-32500-stadium-athletic.html
