I can assure you that it is very difficult with the heat that is upon us!!!!!! NO CARTS!!!! That rules me out of ever playing. This heat is terrible. In our invitational last week, we went through 25 cases of bottle water a day and used over 30 kegs of beer. That's not even counting how many cases of soda we went through. Also, every cart was rented each round, morning and afternoon, players and spectators. We started watering our greens immediately after each round because of how dried up they would get by the end of the day. We watered till midnight each evening just to keep the greens in good shape. The fairways remained hard and fast, couldn't get enough water on them without the help of rain. I personally drank at least 6 bottles of Gatorade each day during the round, along with "other" beverages.
AggiesAreWe Posted June 26, 2009 Author Report Posted June 26, 2009 Chris shot a 3 over par 74 today to finish tied for 36th after the second round, making the cut by 2 strokes. After shooting a 3 over 38 on the front nine, Spinks got birdies on 10 and 13 to get back to +3 with 5 holes remaining but a double bogey on the par 3 15th brought him back to +5 where he finished. Chris will tee off at 8:40 in the morning on #10 for his third round. Other local players that missed the cut: Brandon Ellis of Village Mills 79-75= 154 Charlie Jabbia of Beaumont WD
AggiesAreWe Posted June 27, 2009 Author Report Posted June 27, 2009 Ole Spinks shot a third round 75, +4 to finish tied for 33rd after three rounds with a total score of 222, +9. Chris will tee off at 8:30 off of #10 for the final round. The leader after the third round is Bronson Burgoon, member of this year's national champion Texas A&M golf team. Bronson shot a third round -6 65 to vault his way to the top of the leader board. His three round total of 206, -7, leads by 2.
Guest spinks Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 Thanks for the coverage this week AAW. Did not know you were doing that. Hot was not the word this week. It was completely ridiculous. I closed with a crowd pleasing 79. I knew it was coming. Besides being dead tired I did not have my best stuff all week so I was not to surprised. I was pleased making the cut and finishing where I did against basically the best college and high school players in the state of Texas. These kids are good. I had the pleasure of play with a kid by the name of Jonathan Schnitzer who will be attending Texas in the fall. He finished t 2nd as an 18 year old fresh out of high school. This kid played with no fear and will be a force in the near future. Thanks again for the support. P.S. This years venue was Miramont Country Club in Bryan, Tx. This place is UNREAL!!! 96,000 square foot club house and one of the best maintained golf courses I have ever stepped foot on(greens were about 13). If you get a chance. GOOOOOO!
