Artest leaving Houston to sign with Lakers

wonder how Kobe took this news

i'm sure he's okay with it.  this is a big signing for them, and probably makes them the frontrunner to win the championship again next year, especially if they get odom back.

I agree, if the ego's don't collide

It looks like the Rockets could be hurting badly. They lost Artest, Yao and McGrady are very questionable for next year. They just aquired (I forgot his name) from the Lakers to fill a void but his numbers aren't that impressive. Front office better get to work.

I think Kobe's going to miss that tall, quiet fellow he'd kick out to for wide-open threes.  Ariza knocked those down throughout the Lakers' playoff run.  He's tall, 24, and made some aggressive, smart, defensive plays that clinched the championship.  Ron's going to be on his best behavior-- even so, it'll be interesting to see how Kobe handles the ball-stopper.

Kobe won't miss him.  he only averaged 9 points a game this year, and has averaged less than 7 a game in a five year career.  the fact of the matter is, it's a WHOLE lot easier to score when you have Kobe penetrating and drawing three defenders.  Also, looking at his stats, he's either injury proned or wasn't good enough to make in on the court over the past 3 seasons.  in his first season with the knicks, he played 80 games.  the next three years he played in 57, 57, and 35 games, respectively, before playing 82 games this season.  the rockets just gave a very average player a pretty big contract, long contract.  Approximately $6.5M over the next five years, making him the 3rd or 4th highest paid player on the team.
