Guest gladiator2
That loss was just a wakeup call to let them know that they better be on their "A" game everytime out. Believe me Juan didn't have to say much after that game these young men know what everyone is expecting around here and what they expect. Tons of baseball experience on this team. adminbaberuth
That's 1 run given up in the last 3 games, pitching is the key. Great win for the 14's, on to the next round in Arkansas for the regional where it will get even tougher.

adminbaberuth
By Joel Luna The Facts Published July 21, 2009 It was the second meeting for these teams as the Blue all-stars took a 9-8 win against Nederland on Saturday night in a six-hour, nine-inning marathon that lasted until 1:30 a.m. But, in this one, it was all Nederland and starting pitcher Khol Lasell. “Boy that No. 33 (Lasell) was tough,†Zeien said. “He pitched a heck of a game, and he deserved to win — especially after shutting us down. We played in a tournament last weekend, this week and we hadn’t been shut down in about eight games until today.†Lasell got the complete game win, getting eight strikeouts, and allowed just two hits in the ballgame. Nederland, the home team, jumped out on top in the first when Blue starter Sean Ryan walked Tyler Lacour with one out. After a bloop single from Hunter Knox, Stephen Schlett flied out to center field to drive in Lacour for a 1-0 lead. In the next four innings, Nederland added two more runs on six hits for a 3-0 advantage going into the sixth, when they broke it open. With Brazoswood coming off that tough loss against Wharton, Zeien didn’t think his team was tired. “I don’t think they were down or tired, they just lost focus,†Zeien said. “In the Wharton game, we made some mistakes and didn’t execute at certain times. We also didn’t hit the ball when we needed, and we let them have it. They bent, but they kept us at eight runs, and they won.†If it wasn’t Lasell doing the job on the mound, it was the Nederland defense coming up with nifty glove work. In the third inning, Brazoswood, down 2-0, had an opportunity to come close or get more runs. A single from Justin Terrill started things off in that frame for the Blue all-stars. A fielders choice by Mitchell Schuster placed runners on first and second bases with no outs. Then Trevor Valigura’s sacrifice bunt moved the runners up a base as Blake Partlow was then hit by Lasell to load the bases up for Brazoswood. Chris Monzon then hit a grounder to the shortstop, who promptly started a double play by forcing the runner at second and getting Monzon at first base to end the Blue all-stars’ threat. “We just couldn’t score runs tonight,†Zeien said. “Terrill and Schuster were the only ones with hits for us, and they put the ball in play. But the rest of the guys were just flat.†Lasell took care of the rest, allowing just three base runners for Brazoswood the rest of the way. “We picked a bad time to be flat — especially against a good team like Nederland,†Zeien said. “If we could just have played better defense and scored one more run against Wharton, we could be possibly be playing tomorrow.†Nederland moves on to the championship round against Wharton today at 12:30 p.m. Wharton is the only unbeaten team remaining and just needs one win against Nederland to move on to the sectionals in Arkansas. If Nederland beats Wharton in the first game, the second decisive game will follow at 4 p.m.
