Hopefully the majors won't offer this guy so we can get him...

If rising junior college sophomore Bo Ingram has his way, he'll one day play for NC State in men's basketball.

The wing from Levelland (Texas) South Plains College would love to return to his home state to play college basketball. The former Kinston (N.C.) High star averaged 9.7 points per game at South Plains College this past season.

Ingram said that NC State, Charlotte and Texas Tech were his top three, with Central Michigan, Lamar and Wichita State rounding out his list.

Kinston, N.C., native Bo Ingram averaged 9.7 points per game during his freshman season at Levelland (Texas) South Plains College.

"I have a few colleges that call me but I don't really know about them," Ingram said. "The only ones I really know about are UNC Charlotte, NC State and Wichita State.

"Texas Tech came and talked to me in person with coach Pat Knight."

Ingram is mostly focused on playing for the Wolfpack, and checks in weekly with coach Sidney Lowe and assistant coach Pete Strickland.

"I've been calling them to let them know how I'm doing, and just gave them a call Monday," Ingram said. "I just keep them up to date or leave them messages.

"They've said that once I get done with summer school and they get my transcripts, then I can verbal commit before our season starts next year, and I can sign with NC State. They told me that when I was home for spring break."

Ingram hopes that plan comes to fruition because he has dreamed about playing for NC State and in the ACC since he was a little kid.

"NC State is at a more competitive level because there is a lot more talented players in the ACC," Ingram said. "I think I'd be a big impact player if I came to NC State."

Charlotte could be the choice if things don't work out with NC State because Ingram would prefer to play near home. South Plains is about 30 minutes from Texas Tech, and he likes the Big 12 conference, but isn't sure he'd want to spend his last two years of college in Lubbock.

"I've been getting phone calls from Charlotte," Ingram said. "Coach [bobby[ Kummer has been calling every once in a while just to see how everything is. I already know I have an offer from them.

"[Texas Tech] is a good area and you can focus on your work, but it's kind of hard not having support. If I go back home, I'll have a lot more people that know about me. I just can't see myself staying here for another three more years."

Ingram expects a few more schools to start recruiting him this summer, but he's content with his current situation. He also plans to sign during the November signing period and can't imagine a scenario that would make him wait until April.

"It will be a most interesting thing [if new schools start recruiting him] even though I am locked down with NC State," Ingram said. "I want to see what other schools are recruiting me, just because I'm curious and want to know.

"I know my talent level is good enough where I can go to any conference in college basketball."

Ingram led Kinston High to its first state title in 43 years in 2008, winning the 3A state title. He averaged 16.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game en route to be named The Associated Press co-Player of the Year with Wake Forest center Ty Walker.

Ingram won regional MVP honors after scoring 35 points in two games, then claimed the MVP award in the state championship against High Point Trinity after scoring 21 points.

Ingram also scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in leading the North Carolina squad to an 84-80 victory over South Carolina in the Carolinas Classic. He won the MVP award for his efforts.

Edit: N.C. State has not offered yet, and his offer list shows that none of these schools have offered, but I'm guessing that Lamar has. Hopefully we can land this guy. North Carolina is a big basketball state obviously, and if he was named co-player of the year, then you know he has some serious talent.

Its doubtful but we can dream can't we?
