Lazeek Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 The tourney is off and running at Turnberry!!!!! A "veteran" Tom Watson leads with a 5 under 65. Tiger shot a 1 over 71 today. It is funny how things change...................Tiger had the bad draw at the US Open and looks to be having the good draw at the Open because rain is expected this afternoon and tomorrow morning. He had no weather issues today and should not experience any tomorrow.
AggiesAreWe Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 Tiger may have had the good draw today, but he did not take full advantage of it though. In today's benign conditions, he should have been at least under par. The forecast calls for a lot more wind tomorrow so the players need to take advantage today. Tiger did not do that. We'll see if this first round comes back to haunt him. Of course, he is only 6 shots back.
Lazeek Posted July 16, 2009 Author Report Posted July 16, 2009 Oh..............so lets see??? Tiger had the conditions and did not execute!!! Now in the US Open others had the conditions and they did execute!!!!!!! This tells me that even in ideal or poor conditions you still have to execute and play well to win!!!!!!!! Tiger is far from out of this tourney and in fact I still think that he will be there on Sunday!!!!!! I just wonder what the excuse will be if he does not win playing in the better conditions on Thurs-Friday!!! ;D ;D

Lazeek Posted July 16, 2009 Author Report Posted July 16, 2009 Course seems to be playing extremely easy for a Open Championship. Anxious to see how the weather affects the afternoon players and early players tomorrow.
AggiesAreWe Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 Course seems to be playing extremely easy for a Open Championship. Anxious to see how the weather affects the afternoon players and early players tomorrow. No wind. It is so easy, even Tiger shot +1. ;D
Lazeek Posted July 16, 2009 Author Report Posted July 16, 2009 So easy even a Tiger can do it!!! ;D ;D ;D
AggiesAreWe Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 It's so easy there today, even John Daly is -3 thru 14 holes.
Lazeek Posted July 16, 2009 Author Report Posted July 16, 2009 No you know AAW that JD is a huge fan of the Open Championship. He may be there late in the round on Sunday as well.
AggiesAreWe Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 No you know AAW that JD is a huge fan of the Open Championship. He may be there late in the round on Sunday as well. Yep, throwin' back a few cold one's. ;D

AggiesAreWe Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 Tiger Woods impressive round of +1 71 has him currently tied for 66th. : Like I said, this "easy" round will come back to haunt him.
Lazeek Posted July 16, 2009 Author Report Posted July 16, 2009 Tiger Woods impressive round of +1 71 has him currently tied for 66th. : Like I said, this "easy" round will come back to haunt him. I disagree...............he wants it to play harder (bad weather expected for the weekend) and he will reel in the competition over the next few days. He may not win, but will be in the mix come Sunday!
AggiesAreWe Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 First round about to be completed, only 3 groups remaining. Tiger will be tied 68th after 1st round. He bested a total of 59 players out of the 156 player field in the first round. He's got a lot of catching up to do.
bullets13 Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 what's funny is that 9 times out of 10, even when he's way back at the end of the 1st round, even if he's way back going to the weekend, by the end of the tournament he still seems a way to find himself in the top 5.
AggiesAreWe Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Tiger shot 1 over on the front nine, now sits at +2 for the tourney. He just lost his ball off the 10th tee and looks like will make at least a double bogey on this hole to fall below the cut line at +4. Things look shakey for the man.
AggiesAreWe Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Tiger double bogeys 10, pars 11, bogeys 12 and then double bogeys 13. He is at +5 on his round, +6 for the tourney, two shots behind the cut line of +4.
Lazeek Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 Correction AAW!!! He is 6 over on the day and 7 over for the tournament...................3 shots above the cut line!!!!!!
AggiesAreWe Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Correction AAW!!! He is 6 over on the day and 7 over for the tournament...................3 shots above the cut line!!!!!! You are correct, LAZEEK. What happened to you saying he would be there come Sunday? Tom Watson just made a bomb at the 18th to tie for the lead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AggiesAreWe Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Tiger just birdied 16 to get back to +6. The cut is still at +4. There is a slim chance that it could get to +5, but the weather would really have to get worse. Tiger needs to birdie these last two holes to make the cut on the number.
AggiesAreWe Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Tiger birdies 17!! He now needs to birdie 18 or get some help with the cut line. There are 74 players at +4. Five of those players will need to drop down to +5 to move the cut to +5.
AggiesAreWe Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Tiger pars 18 to finish his second round with a +4 74, which has him at +5 145, which is one shot off the cut. He will now have to wait to see if the cut moves to +5. There are now 75 players at +4. Tiger will need at least 6 of those players to drop back to +5 to move the cut.
Lazeek Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 I would not be surprised if it moved back to +5!!!!!! If so then look out for Tiger on the weekend!!!! ;)
Lazeek Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 Not quite official, but looking very bleak for Tiger to make the cut. Several streaks will come to an end tonight with Tiger missing the cut. 38 events in a row..............15 top 10's in a row in stroke play events..........etc. Anxious to hear from the TW faithful who claim that he has passed Jack as the "Greatest of All Time"!!!! ;D ;D ;D
