Guest coachacola Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 This was in the papers about a month ago, and as always, Lamar is slow in releasing the info. I think this was a temporary deal to help get the players back on track academically.

More like volunteer position Exactly, if this wasn't a volunteer position, I don't think he was paid any more than a grad assistant rate.
Guest coachacola Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 According to Bob West, former Nederland basketball coach Lawrence Williams will take Honea’s place. Two thumbs up to Memorial football coach Kenny Harrison for luring Mark Honea away from the Lamar University basketball program and back into the Port Arthur Independent School District. Although losing Honea is a downer for Lamar and Steve Roccaforte, he can do more good within the PAISD. Honea, with his vast academic experience and proven track record in girls basketball, offers a huge boost to the Memorial girls program in particular and to the school’s athletes in general. As for Roccaforte, expect him to announce with the next few days that former Nederland basketball coach Lawrence Williams will take Honea’s place. http://www.panews.com/sportsbobwest/local_story_206213503.html?keyword=topstory
