bugoy Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Hi, I'm a UTSA alumni and I am pretty excited about our new team coming along. I know that yall are making a new team and all and I just wanted to see how yall are going along and how the program is developing as a whole
Guest coachacola Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Welcome bugoy. Lamar has already signed their first recruiting class plus they have a couple of players transferring from Texas A&M and Iowa. Lamar is also busy renovating their stadium and building a new athletic complex. From what I've been reading it looks like LU and UTSA may not play many football games against each other if UTSA is serious about bypassing the SLC and fast tracking to FBS. I guess only time will tell.
bugoy Posted July 26, 2009 Author Report Posted July 26, 2009 really? do you have a link and stats of Lamars first recruiting class? As far as UTSA is concerned with recruiting we have about 8 verbal commits...Coach Coker is trying to build an 'iron curtain' around San Antonio as most of our recruits are from San Antonio, smaller cities around San Antonio and some from the Valley I believe. Everyone seems to be really getting excited about the team! As far as BCS is concerned I know we'll be independent for 2 years then make a decision from there.
AJ25 Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 There is a link to lamar's athletic page on the lamar university page, there you can find everything you want.
Guest mffl Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Here is the link to the football class http://www.lamarcardinals.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/020409abe.html Check out the football homepage for articles on A&M ATH Billy Chavis and and Iowa LB Jacody Coleman.

Lots of talent in the SA/Centex region. Probably one of the more attractive things about that job is the local recruiting base being so large and good (similiar to Miami ).

Guest coachacola Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Lamar's main recruiting areas will be SETX and Houston. Looking at the profiles of all the coaches they'll also be recruiting the other metro areas in Texas plus JUCO players from California to Mississippi.
