Franks, Reed shine at Junior Olympics

West Orange-Stark senior Trey Franks qualified in the Young Men’s 100-meter Finals at the Junior Olympics at North Carolina A&T University.

Franks, the state Class 3A champion in Texas, turned in a time of 10.50 seconds in his heat to advance to the Finals.

Franks barely missed qualifying in the 200 meters, running a 21.86.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville sophomore Hayden Reed placed a solid fifth out of 40 participants in the shot put in the intermediate class by tossing the shot 51 feet and 3/4 inches. He also placed a strong seventh in the discus by tossing it 147 feet.

Just qualifying to go to the meet is awesome, let alone doing so well. 

Just goes to show that SE TX has some amazing athletes.  (Like we didn't know that already!!!)

Franks looked really really heavy this past sat @ the ozen meet. I think  he has a long way to go to recapture state gold this season.
