KFDM COOP Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Franks, Reed shine at Junior Olympics Van Wade The Orange Leader West Orange-Stark senior Trey Franks qualified in the Young Men’s 100-meter Finals at the Junior Olympics at North Carolina A&T University. Franks, the state Class 3A champion in Texas, turned in a time of 10.50 seconds in his heat to advance to the Finals. Franks barely missed qualifying in the 200 meters, running a 21.86. Little Cypress-Mauriceville sophomore Hayden Reed placed a solid fifth out of 40 participants in the shot put in the intermediate class by tossing the shot 51 feet and 3/4 inches. He also placed a strong seventh in the discus by tossing it 147 feet.
