Guest mffl Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Pinnacle High School's 6-foot senior point guard Nuno Muandumba is one of the top rated point guard prospects from Arizona's 2009 class. Nuno Muandumba is headed to Westwind Prep International this fall. After creating good interest in himself by college coaches and making a good impression with college scouts a year ago, Muandumba signed a national letter of intent with Lamar State University and Head Coach Steve Roccaforte. After being recruited by long-time successful assistant coach Silvey Dominguez to Lamar, it has been reported that Muandumba has run into some issues which will now have him reporting to a prep school this fall rather than on the campus of Lamar University. According to schol officials, Muandumba will now attend Westwind Prep Academy this fall, after seeing problems with an invalid visa. As a result, Muandumba will need to clear up his U.S. Visa first before moving on to a college in the United States. Before traveling to the U.S., a citizen of a foreign country must generally obtain a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay or an immigrant visa for permanent residence. The type of visa you will need is based on the purpose of your travel. Muandumba chose to select Lamar as his school of choice over heavy interest from (IPFW) Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne and also Cal Poly (SLO) San Luis Obispo. Muandumba will look to play basketball this season and attend classes at Westwind Prep International under the leadership of Head Coach Gary Trousdale. Whether or not Muandumba will then head to Lamar University will remain to be seen. Arizona Preps will continue to follow this situation closely, and bring you any updates as they continue to develop. Arizona Preps Scouting Report: Muandumba is a physically gifted performer with an advanced understanding of the game. He plays with very good toughness and with a high level of energy. A very aggressive style of player also, Muandumba plays fearlessly against competition and is not afraid to mix it up with the best at his position. He possesses very good quickness and explosiveness and likes to attack the basket, where he is capable of finishing very well in traffic, and against bigger inside players. Uses very good body control to draw fouls and is also not afraid of physical contact. He also has a very good shooting stroke, but is more of a mid-range offensive performer at this point in his young career, since he has no problem getting to where he wants to on the floor. Defensively, Muandumba is solid, possessing very good lateral quickness and a willingness to get low and slide his feet. He plays hard on both ends of the floor, so he creates havoc for opposing guards with the intense on the ball defense.
