L = Loss

T-U = Toss-Up

As always, MCM is a toss-up. I don't care how well/poorly the Indians or Bulldogs have done in the season prior to MCM, anything can happen at that game.

The only other toss-up I see is Central. Two new coaches, two virtually new teams, and one slate to clean. Who knows?

The only game I'm willing to call a loss is Crosby. Originally, I thought that this would be a toss-up, but (and I never thought I'd say this) after further thought, I actually agree with squaw and think we're going to take an early loss to whet the team's appetite.

PN-G will find the last part of their district very difficult and will lose the last 4 games.  They win MCM though...

I think I read somewhere that Crosby lost their star reciever to Dayton and they lost alot of Seniors last year. I think it will be a toss up game to me. The heavy challenge will be Texas City and then the next will be all the district games. I see our district being fairly equal across the board. I don't see a dominating team in our district this year (yet) (sorry Vidor), but any given Friday night could be a toss up. Its going to be a very interesting season to say the least. I would have to give the district about 3 games deep to see who the major contenders are going to be.  It could come down to the old coin flip again to see who gets the spots !!!!  You never know !

Reality on Coaching Changes according to SETX game history:Newton coach Barbay in 1975 his 1st year goes 5-4-1 -1976 goes 8-3 lost bi-dist to Anahuac----WOS coach Hooks in 1981 goes 7-3  1982 goes 6-4  1983 goes 3-7 ----Dayton coach Stewart in 1996 his 1st year goes 5-5 looses to WOS bi-dist 16-13 ---1997 goes 7-4 looses bi-dist. to Nederland--1998 goes 12-1 3 rds.deep and looses to LaMarque 20-14 and the Coogs go to state.My Point-Champions are not made overnight-Above are 3 Great Coaches and it's good to think positive about new programs but rarely is there a drastic turnaround.And all the above have to have some talent.Good Luck Indians on your new endeavor.I was thinking ya'll were a good team last year-a break or two in close games you're in.

:D Little off wasn't he.

We were all off. Let's be serious. Who would've thought that the Indians would go undefeated through the regular season for the first time in 32 years? I didn't, and hardly anyone else did, either (heck, I don't think anyone did at halftime during the Central game). This was a miracle season stocked with miracle games (Central, Texas City, the first Barbers Hill game - just to name a few), and as good as this year was, I think next year will be even better.

Here's to another great season of Indian football.

    • Regardless of the offense, kids need a reason or purpose to play football. Normally, for most kids, football is something they genuinely enjoy playing, because most players won’t be suiting up on Saturdays. At the end of the day, the most successful teams have kids and coaches that genuinely love the game and get joy and fulfillment playing it.  Vidor’s two current biggest issues are the lack of appeal to play the game and a lack of community support. The offense has been the same for years, and Mathews did a great job of getting the kids and community behind his teams year in and year out. Vidor’s whole identity was being a team you hated to play because you knew you were in for a long physical night. That made the game fun for the kids who played, and they took a lot of pride in it. Currently, I would argue that the toxic attitude of the community towards the offense and Dubois in general is the biggest thorn in the team’s side. The need for instant gratification from fans is what is fueling it all. When the players go home or out in the community and hear: how bad the offense is, how bad the defense is, or how bad the coaching is, the players will begin to lose pride in the program, and the game is no longer fun. This leads to discipline issues and players quitting. Vidor has lost their identity and Dubois and the offensive scheme isn’t the culprit. The Vidor community needs to leave their objections of who they hired at the door and let the man work if they wanna be successful in the future.
    • We will see i heard they pretty dam good 3 losses but all to great teams
    • Yes. May have been Jimmies. What I’m seeing is a lot more teams going back to more ‘traditional style’ offenses. These things go in cycles, and it’s very difficult for all but mega schools to consistently find QB’s who can really be effective with a true spread type offense year in and year out. I’d venture to guess most schools have an outstanding QB that can win a game almost on their own only every few years if that, and that’s what you need for the ‘high flying’ spreads. So coaches go for the O’s that they can groom the majority of kids to be successful running, and take advantage of the superstar’s skills more within that O when they get them.
    • Always a great game… with big Ned on the road to far, I’m going to attend this one. Give me PAM! Tank going to have a 3 sack game 😎😎
    • That last one cost me $50
