Guest Wildcat 08 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 What has happened to the powerhouse Burkeville teams of old? Is it numbers? What is it?
TheCardinalFan Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 I hear they are down this year, very young team. Coach Harper will have them ready for district. The one thing that they have is the Wishbone, it hasn't changed in forever. They will do alright in District.
AltoJacketFan5 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Someone at the game the other night told us they were 6-6 with Buna at half. I don't think people realize just how good this Alto team is this year!
Coach 18 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Someone at the game the other night told us they were 6-6 with Buna at half. I don't think people realize just how good this Alto team is this year! The Buna score was 31-6 at half, but you are correct! Alto is good. Burkeville is very young but they do have great team speed. They all go both ways so they are not in game shape yet. They will be back to the old Burkeville in a couple of weeks. They play a very tough schedule and are not scared to play bigger schools (Buna, Deweyville)and good football schools(Alto)! The younger players will figure things out soon and they will be back to the Burkeville we all love to watch.
mustangfan Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 im not sure about them this year. i went to the alto game and they are extremely young, they have 3 seniors on a team of about 20 (give or take some). i wouldnt be surprised if about 16 of them are freshman and sophomore. they have a very athletic quarterback, but i think they are a year or two away from anything. i also heard that they have been losing kids like crazy and are down to about 100 kids in high school.
