TexasTerror Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 A: Sept. 11, 2010, against Webber International. Webber is an NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) school from the Sun Conference that is located Lake Wales, Fla. And yes, it does have beach volleyball as a sport. Hey Lee - get the memo! Lamar and the SLC may be adding sand volleyball too, just like many other schools in the region (the Sun Belt is on board) when the NCAA adds the sport next year. Q: Why isn't Lamar playing a Big 12 team, like Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor or Texas Tech? A: Simple. The wins would not count for those Division I-A (Football Bowl Subdivision) teams because of Lamar's first-year status. "We're not eligible to play FBS teams because we wouldn't count for them," Woodard said. At least explain why! It is because you have to average X amount of scholarships over two years!
