AggiesAreWe
Any thoughts Mike? Tale of two halfs. Dayton dominated the first half and let a couple of opportunities get away from them or they could have scored another TD. WOS dominated the second half, taking advantage of a long pass down to the goal line and recovering a fumble and running it in for their last score. WOS did a lot better job catching the ball in the second half.
WOS87
WO-S was a 2nd half team all last season... we didn't have a single point scored against us in the 3rd quarter the entire season until our final game against Gilmer, and even in that game we outscored Gilmer 15-7 in the 2nd Half
AggiesAreWe
I would have liked to have seen the Dayton starting QB play the whole game. He did not play the whole 4th quarter but he looked a little bummed up though. Was a little dissappointed that Dayton didn't throw it down field more. They mostly threw it out in the flats which IMO played into WOS hands. WOS killed themselves in the first half with penalties. Had 7 in the first half. I also was suprised to see that WOS is not as big as some were saying they were. Looked to be a very typical size Mustang squad. Very simular to Silsbee. AggiesAreWe
Oh, I want to give a shout out to Dayton's #45 Hill. You are a very good player young man. Definetly the best defensive lineman on the field tonight. Good job.
jayhawk
Good scrimage, WOS has a very fine fooball team ! good speed on defense and your QB is definitely going to take this team for a deep ride in playoffs. Your defense needs to show a little more discipline during the snap count[ could of got a flag almost every down] and where did you find those zebras definitely 3rd rate. Dayton will be fine as the season progresses good size and speed on both sides of the ball and our QB[PAYTON p.] had cramps most of second half plus took a couple of nasty hits . For a first year starter he will only get better has all the right tools and can punt the ball well also. Good luck WOS looks like you'll be state contenders again. OrangeFBfan
The assessment by all here is correct. That's exactly what game-type scrimmages are for etc. To see who's who, and test out some some "On the Fence" Varsity/JV players, which I believe there were at least 5-players that are questionable for either squad. Excellent showing by both squads. WO-S has M A N Y talented kids, and the coaches will ultimately find the right combination that works by week-0 and most importantly, the start of district play. As mentioned previously... It's gonna be an exciting season in Mustangland. ;D
