Guest mffl Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Here is a highlight from Defensive Lineman Leroy Johnson. I didn't see him on the list of recruits but he is one big guy. He should be a solid for Lamar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1W0SEtrNMyM
Guest coachacola Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Three things I noticed about Georgia State's roster: (1) They already have a full roster. Don't they begin play in 2010 like LU? (2) Rivals gave all their 2009 recruits 2 stars, one was a 3 star. That's a lot more than Lamar, but does that really matter? (3) Their roster is loaded with a lot of freshmen. Looks like Woodard is bringing in more JUCO players than Ga. State. Lamar still has another recruiting class to go, so next spring will be a better time to compare rosters.

I agree...I would rather take our lumps the first couples of years with freshmen and other younger players....
lu cards Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 get the best players you can.who cares if there transfers or highschoolers.no reason you cant be competitive from the get go.
Javelina Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 I kind of like the juco approach but would not rely on it after the first 2 years. You can't have everyone on your roster be green to the college game. The Juco players can teach the incoming freshman what to expect when it is the real deal.
AJ25 Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Juco with football isn't the same with juco for baseball. Most of the time, you're better off going D2 in football. Now with college baseball most coaches go look at juco player first because they've learned more and have more savvy, etc. But football isn't the same. You're better off getting freshman and molding them into the players you want.

Guest coachacola Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 10 of the 34 players on Lamar's roster are JUCOs. Long term I don't think Coach Woodard will rely on a lot of JUCO players.
