Lady Bears win two of six at Northwest tourney

FORT WORTH — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears won two of six matches in the highly-competitive Northwest Volleyball Tournamentover the weekend.

The Lady Bears (10-5) fell to Northwest 25-20, 25-21 in their opener Friday and bounced back to defeat Brownwood 25-23, 17-25, 25-22 before falling to Waco Midway 25-17, 25-17.

On Saturday, the Lady Bears fell to Hallsville 27-25, 25-17 and came back to down Wichita Falls 25-18, 25-11 before losing to Midlothian 25-17, 25-19.

Christine Sicktich had 38 kills, 40 assists, 10 aces, 6 digs and 2 blocks for the Lady Bears.

Kellie Tilley had 46 assists, 14 digs, 5 aces and 2 kills and Shelby Sanchez posted 41 digs and three aces.

Ashton LaVergne notched 21 kills, 2 digs and an assist. Elissa Tate posted 13 kills, 19 digs and 6 aces. Shelby Apperson had 18 kills and 3 blocks. and Kalyn Harkness had 16 digs and an ace.

Amy Laughlin claimed 11 kills, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Meagan Kemp had 7 kills, 3 aces and 2 blocks. Allison Walker finished with 3 digs and 3 aces and Michelle Rigsby had 3 digs and a kill.

The Lady Bears return to action Tuesday when they visitPort Arthur Memorial.
