WOSgrad Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 As of this time, it pretty much sits empty without being used at all. There have been a number of ideas for it's use. Turn it into a hotel, a parking lot and even tear it down. The last I heard some company was looking to acquire it to turn it into an indoor snow skiing area (YES! I AM SERIOUS!!!)

shovel Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 A HLS&R Safety Officer told me last year, prior to the Rodeo, that the Houston Fire Marshall condemned the Astrodome as it was no longer up to the fire code. Didn't confirm this, but remembered thinking this smells political.
