the wise one Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 I am very glad to hear this. This proves that the kid worked hard to achieve his goal of playing at a major college program. and he earned this no one gave it to him
bacbone9 Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 Time will tell. dont be surprise if he starting
HoopInsider_Cooper Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 IDK about that....They have some studs coming in including McDonald All-American Avory Bradley who is a monster at guard.
bullets13 Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 they're going to have quite a team next season!
Lazeek Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 I will see them first hand at Cowboys Stadium against Defending National Champions UNC in December!!!! ;)
hjhawks Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 Congrats to this young man.... I know he has worked hard the past year. I wish him success on the court and in the classroom.....
bacbone9 Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 IDK about that....They have some studs coming in including McDonald All-American Avory Bradley who is a monster at guard. Bradley not playing the one. j brown plays the pg and he has to beat out jai lucus and mason...he go get that...
Aces_Full Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 Actually, if JB wants to start at the one he has to beat out incumbent Dogus Balbay and Jai Lucas. Mason only played some one last year out of necessity.Â
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 I dont see Barnes placing JB at the one. if anything he might put Lucas at the one and JB at the two.
Bucof2010 Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 can we for once stick to the topic... ???
ForeverADog Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 They will probably have a 4 guard rotation with Mason, Lucas, Bradley, and Brown. I don't think Balbay will get any playing time unless he somehow got a jump shot over the summer. Brown definitely has the most to prove though. He is inexperienced compared to Lucas and Mason and Bradley hasn't had a year off like Brown. So he definitely has a lot to prove. But none the less, major congrats to him for getting eligible and getting his act together to be on the team. Best of luck to him!! HOOK EM!
shorttexas1 Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 I know Brown will not start this year, I know he will never be a PG, I know all of you under estimate Balbay, I know Brown plays NO defense, and I know with Rick Barnes you must play good D to geyt on the court. Bradley, Balbay, Ward, and Mason all have that over Brown... I think he has more offensive talent than those guys but let's see how it translates!

Balbay can move down the court so fast with the ball. He doesn't need to shot as long as he can play defense, pass the ball and make a lay up.

I hear Barnes has an affinity for Brown and he just might see some PT!!
Guest DickVitale Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 Man Shortt, the kid can flat out get it done on the basketball court...There has NEVER been a question about that. He has all of the physical tools. He is one of the few players that can truly dominate a game on both ends. And although this may come as a shock to many of you, he is actually a quite cerebral player! This is why Rick Barnes has stuck by this kid...Heck, he is a PLAYER!!!
shorttexas1 Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 The kid has some game and has goo basketball IQ... He is a student of the game and I can see him succeeding if he puts his attitude to the side.!!! DV what is your opinion of Balbay?
Guest DickVitale Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 I know J'Covan is BETTER than Balbay! J'Covan will definitely be more of an offensive threat than Balbay, and can hold his own defensively. That I DO KNOW!Â
shorttexas1 Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 I did not ask you to compare them, because we both know Brown is no PG!!! Even though the talent is there, he does not have a PG mindset!
Guest DickVitale Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 In Barnes system a scoring PG is acceptable and sometimes necessary!
team first Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 Actually short, the kid has a great point guard mentality...best I've seen in years..would rather break you down and find an easy layup for a team-mate than shoot it himself. The kid is very unselfish, but dont get me wrong... can and will score on you, the game is easy for him. Talent wont keep him off the floor, if he cant hold it togehter, he will not excell. Hopefully maturity has set in and he realizes there are many like him at the next level. Alot of questions will be answered in about 6- 8 weeks...Go.....AGGIES!!!
