yes i was at the game. i understand b.c. was playing alot of cover 2 with their safeties up for run support and understand with a 14 point lead you can give up the outs a little more but dont see giving that much cushion when you dont have the 14 point lead. a passing team will take advantage of that...i do agree about the long passes....they are going to have to throw some short stuff and quit going long so much....and was wondering how come they didnt throw to the rhodes kid at all....just curious

I would like to know that also..................he was one of the leading receivers in district as a soph and just about every play manages to get open, but last year and now this year.............................he will never get a pass and it's blatantly obvious that the qb refuses to throw to him or the coach has told the qb not to throw to him........................either way, after his soph. year he has been taken out of the receiving practically all together and had an outstanding year then and the numbers speak for themselves.  And your question has been asked by numerous people, but not sure of the answer other than what I said above.  And it's become so obvious that it's laughable.

jacf, let me apologize for sounding so negative in the above answer.................actually its all in BC's scheme of things I guess so whatever reason he got yanked out of the limelight is all fine and not surprising at all.  But, at least he has a touchdown pass this year so that's a good thing, lol!  And he hopefully will have baseball to look forward to as it is his last year and he did very well there last year.

[Were you at the game?  We play cover 2 alot where the corners are isolated with deep halves.  If they play too close they could get burned deep.  We give that up, the out routes, to give better run support with the safeties.  Its our scheme, not the secondaries fault.  You are right about the offense, we scored one TD and one long field goal.  Liberty was terrible except for the QB throwing to number 6 and we gave that to them.  Defense played great especially defensive line and the safeties on run support.  Risinger will be first team all district.  Offensively, we either need to get better on the short throws or run more.  We like to throw deep too much and with the spread its all about quick short stuff that opens up the deep ball occasionally, while running the ball in between.  We ran affectively with the misdirection and if we had more speed would have broke some for TD's. Need to utilize the speed we have more!!!!

Cale Hyde is a speed burner as you can tell on the return and works in the backfield also.  He has extreme explosion and can outrun the corners. With Menard and Hyde in the backfield together would be deadly with a splash of Dishon could mean scores galore. Smash and Dash has a good ring to it.

We broke 2 that were called back due to penalties.  These 2 runs totaled at least 100 yards of offense.  Dishon had a big game. That year on Varsity last year gave him some experience that will help the Cardinals this year.  Don't you agree?

What speed are Cardinals not utilizing?  Can they block as well? The Cards need all the blocking they can get on the Offensive side of the ball to help move the ball.

Luke Rhodes, by far, has the best hands on the team. He has lost a step but does manage to get open.  The problem is, the QB's are inaccurate on short passes and like to throw deep, their best attribute.  I don't think anybody will disagree, that knows, that Lemoine and Rhodes have had their problems but, Lemoine wants to win and it ain't that!!

The cards aren't utilizing Hydes speed enough.  If He or Dishon would have broke open on either of those plays they would have scored, even though they were called back.  Lemoine and Menard are big and strong, but will get caught and they are featured runners on this team.  I agree we are weak on the line offensively, but something went right b/c we ran the ball affectively.  I've been told by several people that last years JV QB was fast and ran the ball great last year and was a very accurate passer.  Where's he at, did he move, or is he still on JV??  I realize that Lemoine is the man this year, but what about next??  I agree Dishon had a big game, he is a great safety and a good receiver.  tremendous athlete, should get about 5-6 carries a game on reverses and screens.

You might be surprised at the times he runs, he is certainly not slow even losing a step.  But point is, he will get open short, long, mid, but very very seldom will get the ball.  Most coaches would have buillt on his ability and great hands and used it, but not the case.  And with the receivers on the team, seems like BC should be a threat to the teams we play.  Something just is not right and again I believe this team is loaded with talent, just the talent is going to waste by not being used.  We beat Liberty, should win this Friday, but what about district...................are we prepared for the teams we are going to face?  That is where the real "teams" stand up, so I hope we can be ready and competetive then.  And we can't live and die on the long pass, so why don't we get someone in who can throw the short pass if that is the case.  And who was the JV qb?

This team is loaded with good receivers and there is no I in Team.

First of all,  no one said anything about the team not having good receivers so what does your answer mean.  And as far as your quote, maybe there are a few on the team that you should address that to, because Rhodes is the first one to congrat another player on something done well whether you want to admit it or not.  And perhaps you should read your previous post, seems you are making a few "the team".

And apparently you are saying because the team is "loaded with good receivers" that's the reason Rhodes does not get thrown the ball?  Explain that one if you can.

and Rhodes is a senior, has been all district the past two years and has a bit more experience than those you named, has proved time and time again he can go up in the air to catch a ball and take the hit and hold onto the ball.  How many times have these you are so high on done that?  But it's obvious you think the newcomers are "all that" and it's okay that a proven receiver for the third year doesn't get thrown the ball.  Maybe it's because he might do better than someone else and that wouldn't bode well would it.

And I have the tapes of the games the past two years, would you like to sit down and see how many times he is open but won't get the ball?  It's really pretty amusing and you might enjoy the humor in it, because that's what it is and for whatever reason,  someone doesn't want Rhodes to get the ball and he doesn't.

I agree Rhodes should be our go to receiver.  Our passing scheme is one of the problems.  We leave too much up to the QB for high school football.  He has to make reads like an NFL QB.  Too difficult! Just have a goto guy and a few others and throw quick easy routes.  If the QB can't do it, find someone whocan.  This team does have alot of talent and if we don't start utilizing all of it, we won't make the playoffs.  I don't know the kids name, I worked with a guy who went to the JV games last year and he told me the kid could start on varsity at QB.

What agenda, I have no kid in the program.  What is my personality??  Sounds like you don't like a little honest discussion.  If Rhodes has the best hands on the team, which no one will dispute, then why no catches in the 2 scrimmages or the game.  We didn't even throw to him once.  We lost to Kountze last year, a total embarrassment, because we couldn't complete a pass.  We had been in the playoffs for several years and even made it to the quarters when Johnny Dishon was QB.  Losing to a mediocre 2A team was bad.  I don't want to see that happen again.  We have too much talent in the district we are in to not go to the playoffs.  It is time to put politics aside, and do whats best to win on friday night!!

Responding to the last post, If having to prove yourself on the field was our top agenda at BC things would be different and I wouldn't be having this discussion. We put people in positions when they havn't even had to compete for it.  They just get it!!  Politics!!

New name?  LOL!  And no, guess you don't hear very well, no one is whining about a certain player not getting enough playing time or being in the limelight.  There was a question asked as to why a player doesn't get the ball when he HAS proven himself for two years, but I guess you don't understand that.  And it is football, a team should use whatever they have to become better, not take a player that is good and totally take them out of the game.  Or guess little Bobby might not look as good if someone does something well, so the idea is not to ever throw them the ball..........................now that's building a program!  And please.............played an awesome game?  Defense looked good, offense wasn't impressive at all, with the difference in the two kickoff returns which were great and the throw from a player that someone wants to shut down to Dishon.  And how well do you think the team will do against  WOS, Silsbee, HJ, OF?  Maybe they will win one game in district, like last year?  And you as a fan are so happy with that?  So if you think someone is whining, so be it, it is ignorant that they don't use what they have on the field because of stupidity, jealousy, whatever the reason is,  and its because of people like you that are happy with a shabby offense and winning one district game that makes it "awesome" and as long as so and so is on the field playing a key position, doesn't matter how bad they play, you are happy.  That's a shame too because of the talent that IS on this team.  BC should be much better than they are with the players they have and that includes the new younger guys who have already shown what they bring to the table.

you know, as i go through these posts from Sport777, i keep coming to the conclusion that he is not a starter on the BC Varsity team and is upset that he doesn't get to play...

and, if you are a fan, then why would you be getting "embarrassed" over a loss to another team?

you really should stop talking, you aren't apart of the program so you cant say the loss was embarrassing, because all you're doing is putting kids down for that statement...

AND, personally, i think the last years game vs kountze was a great game...

BC lost by what? 2 points? and they shut down their offense in the 2nd half scoring 26 unanswered points?!

(this was the past so im not going to get into it, just figured id say what my opinion over this)

again, more tired head

you two are sewing the scarlet letter on your own shirt.

If your head is so tired, then why are you reading?  There's your sign...........and wanna explain about the scarlet letter?  Oh, or is it that nothing that goes on in BC can be discussed openly because then your kid will have to pay or maybe be taken out?  That's about right so guess we should just say BC football is heads and shoulders above everyone else,  all the players are equal in ablility, blah, blah, blah.  This is a football forum and if stating or answering a question on here is sewing a scarlet letter on my shirt, then it's more politically pathetic than I thought.

I'm not even from BC, but I have to wonder why they wouldn't throw the ball to an all district receiver??  Rhodes is a great athlete and it would be to the teams advantage to utilize his ability. I agree that the team currently doesn't do that and that's where the problems arise.  I don't think anyone is whining, but people are noticing the ball doesn't get thrown to this kid, so someone answer why that is?

Who is the JV QB everyone is talking about?

Although we appreciate your concern for my sons playing time, he will earn his way on his own ability as an impact player and not on a website.  Cale is a team player and will take on his role as such. The above post in no way represents our thoughts as parents of Cale. Signed Chris Hyde.
