NewIndian
Well, well, well. WO-S Junior White did it again. 25-0!! Well played game.Rain hampered the offenses but it was a hard hitting affair. I tell ya what though. I dont want to play on anymore fields without an actual scoreboard or visual clock. Our first half was about 40 minutes long. Second half was about 15 minutes total. 4th quarter was a running clock. Referee said he ran the clock to beat the rain ??? ??? ??? ???. Whatever!!! With the points against rule affecting the playoffs in this division that should NEVER be the refs call. SPORTSNUT72........quit pickin with your heart!!! i was wondering what the h@#l happened the team on the other side started the same time and were still playing when we left. i think my wife was madder than anybody, so was my mother she drove all the way from LC, even the thought of her getting sick while shes still recovering wouldnt stop her from coming to see her grandson play
OldNedDog
Yeah we had the same issue today. With 8 minute quarters it took 45 minutes to play the 1st half... The score was already 6 - 0 and the clock still had never been started. Time outs called and clock wasn't stopped for almost 1 minute one time. The referees need to have an official timekeeper and not rely on someone operating a clock. In this case it was a kid. You know something isn't right when points are being put on the board for a td and one never was made.... the refs have nothing to do with who runs the clock. that is the the responsibilty of the home teams Well the home team claimed they weren't the official time and that was why they allowed kids to operate cuz the refs had the official time. The refs only said that the score would be right in the official scorebook; therefore, we didn't need to worry about if the score was right or not on the scoreboard but that was the official time. You can't have an official time keeper where they can be distracted by other people as well as other games on other fields (turning around watching the game behind instead of the game they are operating the board for). Hopefully, lessons were learned this weekend and the problem was addressed and resolved for future games at that site or any other home site. If you are complaining about Nederland fields, I don't know if you noticed but there was a new pressbox built and hopefully we can have the time keeper in it by next game. Donate $25 per game and you can have a real official run the scoreboard, otherwise each association tries to get a responsible person to do it. The ref is utlimately responsible for the game time. The score is both coaches responsibility. There are some games that the coaches agree to run the clock. So ask your coach! When my son played there were about 25 games per week in the stjfl, times that by $25, thats a lot of money. Another idea, you volunteer and help the situation. I always get a kick out of people that want to complain are the ones that dont volunteer.

I always get a kick out of people that want to complain are the ones that dont volunteer. The refs said the home team is responsible for the game time. I agree that maybe the refs should have an official time and that maybe the clock timekeeper should be a back-up. We do not allow children to keep our clock. We have adult volunteers that volunteer and are not paid either. A responsible person is not a child. We weren't home team but had I known that anyone could volunteer and they needed help then I would have offered for FREE. I do volunteer for everything that my son is involved in rather it is football, soccer, baseball, basketball or whatever. I've also volunteered while my step-son was growing up for his activities as well. I've worked many a game including times when I didn't even know anyone that was playing. I have been called on many times at the last minute cuz they needed help at the ballpark to run the concession stand, keep books or whatever and if I am available then I go help. I wouldn't go off on people cuz you think they only complain and do not volunteer. I do not believe that I was the only one complaining about the time clocks.
