redman123 Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 I totally agree with the parent who has a problem with the favoritism issue. That has been a problem at bridge city for as long as my kids have been at this school. My son played 3 years ago,and we had to go through this same thing that you are going through now. It does not do any good to talk to the coach, because he is scared of losing his job. You see, you have certain individuals that are associated with making decisions on who will play and who will not play. Teachers, board members, you know, people that have kids or kin folks playing for the team. It's a big click around here. The only advice I have for you and your son, is that when he does get a chance to play, he needs to make it obvious for everyone to see that he should be out on the field. In other words, make the coach and fans see the real talent. You have to have a certain name in this town. I sat in the Elegante hotel in 2007 with my wife and son who was a willie ray smith recipient for outstanding defensive player of the year. The head coach did'nt even show up for the ceremony. Instead another coach came. That other coach sat there at that table with me and my wife and my son and told us. "Mr. and Mrs., you know, your son would be sitting up there on that stage tonight receiving the outstanding defensive player of the year, but the coach did'nt turn in his stats. My son looked at me and said, "thats okay dad, I know that I am the real winner."That's the kinda ball they play around this town, that's why they will never be winners.
