My, my, my....Lookie here, shortt....#14 J'COVAN BROWN, Fr, Port Arthur TX (Memorial)...How about that? Then it was said how "he would never set foot on UT's campus"...Remember that one, shortt?....He is at the "40 acres" now! Do your thing kid! Then the SE Texans will claiming him as their own, like they always do after hoping the kid fails.....tsk, tsk, tsk.....Go get em, J'Covan!

Happy for Brown that it sounds like he finally got the help he needed and has his life going in the right direction!!!!  Just don't blow it or DV and Short will hear about it for some time!!!!!!! ;D ;D

Mr. Zeek the Geek!!!  How will I have to hear about it... It is J. Browns future, not mine... All I said is that he would make it there and he has!!!

Give me an ear full, I have done what it takes to be successful, and I can only control that (even though it is not completely in my control either (GOD))!  I am glad you are happy about JBrown small success, but there is no need to talk about blowing it before it even starts!! We will stay positive for now!

No DickieV you WERE wrong.  You came on here stating that J'covan was enrolled in Summer classes at UT when he most definitely was not.  So you didn't know what you were talking about.  He did not get cleared by the clearinghouse and enrolled until just before the Fall semester deadline.

Now that we have cleared that up.  Welcome J'covan to the 40 Acres, and make the area proud.  I fully expect him to win the starting PG spot early in the year.  He is that talented.  Keep those grades up.

Go pull it up....I said one of the UT assistants informed me that he was taking summer classes and was WORKING OUT WITH THE TEAM.  He was working out with the Longhorn basketball team this summer.  I am not sure WHERE he was attending classes, but that he was. I assume they were on the UT campus, but they very well could not have been. There are SEVERAL colleges in the Austin area, and community colleges as well.  I SAID HE WOULD BE PLAYING FOR UT and he is....case closed.

That is what I call true disdain for someone... You went all the way to the least detail to try a prove him wrong!

I watched this kid all through high school. He does have great talent but his attitude is what kills him. Him and his brother would get into fights on the bench and his on parents couldn't control him. I hope he proves me wrong but I just don't see it.

Sorry!!!

I take back the comment about his parents couldn't control him. THEY never tried. If one of my son's acted the way he did during his high school playing time they never would've stepped onto a basketball court.

You can say whatever you want about PNG mindset, but my kids would've never acted the way he did.....period................

This maybe a accepted behavior to you but it isn't to me.

Do I have true disdain for Dickie V??? Not at all.  But he does tend to brag way too much, and take credit for things he has no business doing.  That's why I called him out.  I said he was enrolled at Texas during the summer without 1st hand knowledge, and he was dead wrong.  Then to top it off, he comes back and says hey look at me I was right J'covan IS enrolled at Texas.  When he knows dang well that IS NOT what he said in the summer.

With all of that talent you're recruiting to that private school Dickie, you better make sure you win state or everyone will know who held them back.

First of all, I was not taking credit for anything that I did not say....I SAID HE WAS THERE, AND WAS GOING TO BE THERE BEFORE THAT.  Thats no big deal. You can try to call me out over the internet all you want, I know what I said (which I know you would never do face to face because most of you are real cowards anyway) My issue is your accusation that I "recruited" anyone to the school where I coach. 1) Thats a TOTALLY false accusation, 2) Winning state is no guarantee to anyone, and who are you to put that type of demand on me? If you notice, I dont really speak about what my team will do. Not my nature and its not the thing to do. Everyone else on here can say what they want, but you will NEVER hear me speak about what my team will or won't do specifically.  You pop up on here periodically just to harrass me...Either you are obsessed or you have a real disdain for me...Either way you need to back up....I dont know you, and it obvious that you really dont know me, just know OF me.  Seriously, I dont know why you would even have an issue with me, when you dont even know me...How dumb is that?

MODS: That type of accusation about recruiting, I HAVE to take serious.  He needs to be warned about that type of thing. Its a violation on this board and needs to be addressed.

First off, I have been in the J'covan discussion from the beginning because I was interested if he had ever made it to Texas.  Why am I interested?  Because I love UT basketball.  It certainly had nothing to do with you, until you made a remark about him already being enrolled in summer classes at UT, which I knew to be false.

Secondly, I have no idea how you have "accumulated" your basketball players at your school (and frankly don't care).  But I think most of the people around here know why great athletes get scholarships to private schools.  It's to help those schools win athletic championships.  And I really don't have a problem with that.  So why do you?  So long as they compete outside the UIL.  Good luck on your quest to win state in TAPPS.

Aces, if he was NOT enrolled at UT, then WHERE WAS HE? I was told by someone ON THEIR STAFF that he was there and working out EVERY DAY with the team and attending summer classes.  If the classes were not at UT, HE DID NOT SAY THEY WERE OR WERE NOT...Good enough? The problem is you folks that are FANS need to stay in a FANS place.  I talk to the people involved on a daily basis, whether you know it or not, therefore I think I am a bit closer to the situation than you. Ever even hold a conversation with J'Covan? How about Coach Barnes? How about anybody on the UT staff? Well guess what? I HAVE.  Which does not mean that I am BETTER than you, this just happens to be what I do for a living as a coach, therefore in certain situations it puts me more in the know than most of you who do not have dialogue with these people.  Fair enough?

All this friction!!!!  Got me nerved up... LOL... It doesn't matter either way...  DV said he would be at UT (minus a few details) and he is!  Aces sees JBrown situation as rocky and DV's information as uncreditable.

I have the solution.  DV keep the info coming and ignore anyone who questions it.  Aces, state your opinions openly and ignore DVs info!!!  That wont hurt either one of you, GEEZ!!! I dont want to have to whip both of yall A$$ when I see you in person!!!!

I dont know why..When it comes to that sort of info, I would think that very few on this board are just as or even more capable than me to provide accurate info. Hoopinsider Cooper would be one that would be in the know. (its his JOB to be!) AAW could dig long enough and make a few contacts. Nostradamus may know some people too. Shortt could just call me!! ;D  Not being cocky or arrogant, but its just true.

Shortt, you know I am 6'5 and I pack a mean right hook!! You better bring a lunch bro!  :D 8) LOL

The last part of my post was a joke... But looky here!!!

DV is one of the few coaches openly active (even though not by his choice) on this site, that is willing to give information, expertise, and insight.  More coaches don't revel there identity because they can not speak openly to you all (the same way he does).  Personally, I have found websites and other info that I would not know about if it was not for him and others that post on this site.  My wife tells me I am a now it all and sound arrogant when I speak on a topic I truly know about!  I would like to not cause anyone to be pushed from the site of their own will or by being provoked.

This board is full of sports fans that like to talk trash about sports... Not about each other... Now please back on topic!

    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an easy and obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.

    • @CIS_org National Security Senior Fellow @BensmanTodd tells Steve Bannon how the U.S. State Department and USAID have been sending American taxpayer funds to religious nonprofits to facilitate mass immigration to our southern border. Bensman says 248 nonprofits are participating in the United Nations’ 2024 agenda to distribute $1.6 billion in cash, transportation, food, and shelter to U.S.-bound immigrants across Mexico and Latin America.
