The Hornets need to regroup and play some defense in the 2nd half. Shepherd receives the ball and if they keep trading scores its going to be a close finish.

Nelson Scott led Caldwell in rushing with 21 carries for 158 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a two-point conversion run. Teammate Kysan Woolverton had 20 carries for 128 yards and three touchdowns, scoring the game's first touchdown on a 1-yard plunge in the first quarter. Caldwell's Kedrin Sheppard ran 10 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Sheppard also completed his only pass attempt to Anthony Gutierrez for 50 yards. Quarterback D.J. Cumby added 77 yards on five carries while going 2-for-4 passing for 17 yards. Caldwell's defense scored two touchdowns. Josh Courtney intercepted a pass and returned it 47 yards for a score, and Tyler Van Dresar returned a fumble 43-yards for Caldwell's final score in the fourth quarter. Caldwell (1-1) will play at Waco Connally on Friday.

Hornet Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 Not really sure....the trainer attended to him and he wanted to go back out but I don't believe Coach Haynes wanted to risk him going back out still sore. He was on crutches at the end of the game but it may have just been a precaution or to keep him off his injured leg, knee, ankle....just not sure...
