txcanes Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 What a refreshing thread - good conversation about two good teams. Glad to see that the new Qback is doing well. Should be a good game and the last 2 games vs Nederland were well played games. Looking forward to hosting yall and get there early as has already been discussed, we got a construction mess. Fat Daddy - last I heard the stadium flip has been cancelled?
Geaux25 Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 The recent trend and good thing about Nederland football is that they have traditionally gotten better as the year has progressed. In other words, they haven't peaked to early. (With the exception of the non-playoff year, knock on wood) This is a compliment to the coaching staff in Nederland. They do a good job of bringing the kids along with patience.
fatdaddy Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 TxCanes, Hadn't heard that about the cancelled swap. I'll talk to some people this week and find out for sure. With our luck, they ran out of money during the expansion, and decided the stadium improvements were what they could cut the easiest. Hope not.
FriendswoodFan Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 It is my understanding that the stadium expansion will happen, but the flip may not. Supposedly, because of the fact that the home fans would be looking into the sun from that side.
dawgnut Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 My last trip there it was hot and the sun was right in our eyes for the first part of the game. If someone decided to keep it like it is I don't think the home fans will be to upset!
PhatMack19 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Not so good news out of Nederland today.
jake94 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Not so good news out of Nederland today. Whats the bad news?

PhatMack19 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 We may be looking at our 3rd QB in as many games
txcanes Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 We may be looking at our 3rd QB in as many games The bug stinks. Our team had it against Dayton. It was rough. Good luck on getting well soon!
Bigdog Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Anybody confirm that Tyler is out for this game?
outanup Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Tyler Smith didnt practice monday or tuesday, not sure about today.
PhatMack19 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Anybody confirm that Tyler is out for this game? That's what it looks like. Dionte and Adam Atterberry are the other QB's on the team. Dionte has been getting most of the reps with the 1st team. Hopefully Tyler will be ready to go when district starts next week.
twincityindian Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 nederland is loaded at the qb position a couple of injuries and illnesses wont effect the bulldogs from what ive been told
The Icon Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Don't know If "loaded" is the correct word, but they are deep at QB. Some teams wish they had that problem, If it is indeed a problem. If the team's leaders can step it up and go beyond the call of duty, Nederland should be competitive
outanup Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 While it will surely effect Ned offensively, cant see any change in Fwoods approach. Second, third or fourth string matters little, they will take away the run and make the QB win it.
PhatMack19 Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 It looks like Attaberry may get the start.
The Icon Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Was told that nederland may actually come out in a pro-style set offense. Whether that's a combination of lovelady and Cardenas remains to be seen, but it should take the strain off of Atterberry If he makes the start
outanup Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 The word I got was Atterberry, we will see friday nite....
txcanes Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Speaking of bad parking and construction, are they visiting stands the same size they were last time we played there in 04? If so, I believe they are VERT small for a 4A school. Do you think you will fill up the visitors stands? We have not had that happen very often - even with our district foes!
GoDogs27 Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Posted September 17, 2009 Do you think you will fill up the visitors stands? We have not had that happen very often - even with our district foes! Nederland always brings a crowd whether its a 20 minute drive or 2 hour drive... Dogs will be packed in the house... I am hearing the same about Tyler this week. Very doubtful he will play. From what I understand, it is flu-like symptoms. I think he is going to get checked out for H1N1 tomorrow. I swear, Nederland has a curse written all over the QB position. Its highly frustrating to me. Seeing such talented players not being able to play for one reason or another. On the flip side, hopefully its nothing too serious and he will be back for district play.

Dayton did a good job of filling them last year, Nederland has a bigger fan base, that said bring your walking shoes you may have to park on the side of 45.

Can not argue - and it is even worse now with the construction. I hear the Nederland folks are getting there at 5? Wow - that is planning ahead!!
