HoopInsider_Cooper Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Owner is the problem, not the manager.
KDOSullivan Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Owner is the problem, not the manager. True, but like JJ with the Cowboys, what can we really do?
shovel Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Probably an unpopular opinion, but to me it appears the Astros fired a good man because he couldn't make chicken salad out of chicken s#*t! As long a Drayton McLane pinches his pennies, they never will field a winner. You can't blame Cooper for the owner and GM's management tactics. There may be somebody out there who can motivate the aging veterans and rag-tag youngsters into a few more wins, but they will never be Champions. McLane would have to make a commitment to do so and wont part with the money required to build a consistant winner. All the long suffering Astros fans have to look forward to is more of the same.
JMay Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Should have fired Ed Wade Shouldn't he be helping them rebuild a non-existant farm system?
Ruckdad Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Should have fired Ed Wade Shouldn't he be helping them rebuild a non-existant farm system? Exactly - that is what he was brought in here to do. The Astros have the worst farm system in baseball. Thanks to Timmy P. Ed Wade has an uphill battle trying to replenish the farm system and also try to keep the MLB club competitive. It is an impossible task. All those that want to fire Ed Wade, what would you have done differently coming into the season that would have this team contending ahead of the Cards? Look at the Phillies. All those guys were drafted by Ed Wade. Give him a chance to build something - Gerry Husicker didn't do it overnight either.
Vidor50 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 About time, he lost his club house and called one of the worst games from the dugout that I have ever watched. He might be a good support coach but a terrible Head Coach. Bring in Duncan from St. Louis.
Guest baseball25 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 BOBBY VALANTINE would be a good fit..
