Even though the schools get their tax money, the LC areas that were strong armed into annexation get the pleasure of adding new taxes money (for unwanted services) to the city of Orange. Hey, Thanks again Mr Claybar! :
mat Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 The HS was not annexed because there was no revenue to benefit the city.
tvc184 Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Like Slam said, school districts, city limits and even US Postal Service routes have nothing to do with each other. I live in Jefferson County outside of any city, live in the Nederland school district and have a Beaumont mailing address. Inside the city limits of Port Arthur for example, there are four school districts. Cities do their thing and school districts do theirs.
Guest pirates Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Also county lines, VISD goes into Jasper County nearly to the Paper Mill.
Guest pirates Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Here's a good link from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). http://deleon.tea.state.tx.us/SDL/Forms/

Hey, Thanks again Mr Claybar! : Now Now! Just remember if you decide to move further out. When they annex that moves the ETJ even further out. If you live in the ETJ you are subject to annexation, but then I guess you know that. ;D ;D ;D

w Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Like Slam said, school districts, city limits and even US Postal Service routes have nothing to do with each other. I live in Jefferson County outside of any city, live in the Nederland school district and have a Beaumont mailing address. Inside the city limits of Port Arthur for example, there are four school districts. Cities do their thing and school districts do theirs. There is only one school district inside the city of Port Arthur, though. PAISD. Beaumont has several schools, but only one school district. Orange is much smaller and each school in the county has their own "consolidated independent" school district. To be exact, even WOS high school is not in the city limits of Orange, it is in the city of West Orange. There are elementaries and intermediates in the city of Orange limits, such as Little Cypress Elementary and junior high (as well as WO Intermediate and Jr. High).
