88Warrior
I'll take Jasper....that team has that old Jasper "swagger" back, something that's been missing since the Coach W's days.... Good Luck to both teams...

Spherictrey
Im from Jasper so naturally I am for Jasper but this is because I believe Jasper has alot of skill this year. I watched Jasper 5 and 6 years ago and Jasper was pretty beast and I look at this Jasper team and think that they are back. Jasper has a solid offense and the defense is doing spectacular this year. I predict Jasper by

Good Luck to both teams... Coach W had some good teams, but I am quite certain 03-04-05 had plenty of swagger about them. Matter of fact it might have been the swagger that cost us a championship when we thought we were unbeatable against McGee/Shipley. But I agree that they are quickly looking like Jasper again. Jasper2010
Being a Senior at Jasper, I hope we go all the way, but where we've messed up in the past few years (my freshman through junior) is where we get a big headed attitude that we're unstoppable. If we don't do this and just go into every game with the attitude that I'm not any better because of my stats and just play the game, we can go all the way. Sam Alvis is a great QB and our Defensive Coordinator has shown his mark, we can do it, just we have to get by Carthage. Jasper will hopefully dominate Silsbee
JasperDawgs
It wouldn't matter if Jasper was 9-0, and Silsbee was 0-9, when these two teams get together the fur will fly. It's one of the oldest rivalries in the state, and this will be their 72nd meeting. The Dawgs and Cats first met in 1922, Silsbee won that first game, 24-6. Since then, Jasper leads the series, 41-28, and the schools have tied twice.

JasperDawgs
When I think of Jasper and Silsbee getting together, it reminds me of Texas and Texas A&M, Alabama and Auburn, Georgia and Georgia Tech, etc. My mother (Jasper '60) has always told me the stories of how it was back in her school days. The police had to escort the busses into and back out of town, whether the game was in Silsbee or in Jasper. It was not unusual for the busses to get pelted with rocks. Nida Marshall wrote in her book "The Jasper Journal", after a Silsbee @ Jasper game in the 1930's (Silsbee won), angry Jasper fans abducted the referees and locked them in the old gym overnight. Wild stuff. I remember in 1982 (I was a freshman), the Jasper defense had a 6 game shutout streak going. Jasper was at Silsbee in the old Kirby Stadium, and Silsbee scored a TD on them in the west end zone. This upset the Dawgs so bad, they blocked the PAT, and then they ran the ensuing kickoff back for a TD. Jasper never looked back and went on to win that game 42-6. Why couldn't Thurman Thomas forget his helmet the night he personally knocked us out of the '82 playoffs? ;D
JB94
This has "trap game" written all over it. Silsbee will throw everything at us. Jasper will have to be ready and play like they did again WO-S.
JasperDawgs
I just compiled the stats, can you believe Jasper has the #2 offense in 18-3A (behind Carthage). Last night's 63 points against H-F put us into the number 2 slot. Center has the #3 offense, yet they have the #1 defense, allowing only 10.2 points per game. Offense; (1) Carthage 166 pf 33.2 pf avg (2) Jasper 131 pf 32.7 pf avg (3) Center 115 pf 28.7 pf avg (4) Rusk 115 pf 23.0 pf avg (5) Diboll 97 pf 24.2 pf avg (6) Huntington 49 pf 9.8 pf avg Defense; (1) Center 41 pa, 10.2 pa avg (2) Jasper 90 pa 22.5 pa avg (3) Carthage 102 pa 20.4 pa avg (4) Rusk 108 pa 21.6 pa avg (5) Huntington 124 pa 24.8 pa avg (6) Diboll 221 pa 55.2 pa avg
Bulldog92
Throw the Gilmer game out, which seems like the exception for the Dogs rather than the rule, and you get 124 pf and 48 pa...which is roughly 41-16 per game. Two of those three were against ranked opponents, so that's pretty impressive.

As good as Gilmer is, HF is equally as bad. HF will not win a game this year.
