Guest coachacola Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Lamar University's 2009 recruiting class is ranked 60th among the Top 100 in NCAA Division 1, according to Collegiate Baseball newspaper's annual evaluation of the institutions as that level. Coach Jim Gilligan's Cardinal recruiting class is the only one from the 12 Southland Conference schools to make Collegiate Baseball's Top 100. It's been a while since the baseball team has been to the NCAAs so with two good recruiting classes in a row it's time for them to go back. http://www.lamarcardinals.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/100109aaa.html
TexasTerror Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 The SLC is a tougher league. At least two teams have built programs worthy enough in the last two years of at-large bids. Got to improve the schedule, Cards and got to win when it matters most. Would love to see Lamar and Southeastern La. join the felines of Texas.
Lazeek Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 The LU Hoop program has proven that the highly ranked recruiting classes really mean nothing. Sad but true!!
Guest coachacola Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 The LU Hoop program has proven that the highly ranked recruiting classes really mean nothing. Sad but true!! I don't think Roc's "highly ranked" classes were based solely on talent level, but more on the sheer number of recruits. Also, you need 3 or 4 real good recruiting classes to reap the benefits. Baseball in the SLC has improved over the decade and I doubt there's much difference between the talent once you get down below the elite programs. I just hope that this is the year the team comes together and makes a run.
LU Baseball Fan Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 I sure wish it was February!!!!!!!!!
